Welcome to Wisconsin

Everything's going well here... Dan and I are still getting settled and still unpacking. For those of you wondering about thank you notes from the wedding. Please shut up and be patient. I know that's harsh, but you know what? We've been kind of busy. We've moved twice in the past two months. And somewhere in the mix of job searches and packing and moving, they got pushed twords the bottom of the list. Plus they got packed in the bottom of a box, which was only recently unpacked. I won't rant on that subject anymore. Unless of course I get harrassed about it more.

Oh well. Dan's been having an easier time of the transition. He's been at work for two weeks now, today marks the beginning of three. I am having more trouble, I suppose. But I'm not going to go into it now. I suppose if you want to know more, get a hold of me and I can tell you all about it. I'm not really in the mood to be all whiny.

Let's see... what else can I tell you? Oh yes. Octoberfest kicked off on Friday with the ceremonial tapping of the golden keg. And the alternative City Fest, held by the city brewery because they weren't allowed to sell all their beers on Octoberfest grounds, kicked off with the ceremonial tapping of the wooden barrel. Hmm... We didn't get to go see the parade on Saturday because we were waiting for the insurance lady, but we did see part of it on tv.

In animal news... I saw a black squirrel on Saturday. I've never seen a black squirrel before. Supposedly they are a variation of the grey squirrel, and are from Canada. They look like skunks. Oddly, that's the only squirrel that I've seen here. There are lots of deer, though. And I also saw two beavers trying to cross highway 16 (?) on Saturday. I guess that was just a good day for animal spotting. Of course, Dan saw none of them.

For those of you looking for an excuse to come up for a visit, I've got a couple of events in the planning. Halloween weekend looks like an event in the making... a combination costume/pajama party. We have some friends which will be coming up during that time, so all the rest of you are invited too. Then, I am fully intending on hosting Thanksgiving. That, so far, looks more like a family event. This is all going on because Dan has not worked with Chart for long enough, and has no vacation time. Getting away would most likely require taking a day or two off from work, and he just can't do that. So, the solution is for everyone else to come up here. And for our friends and aquantances that are looking for jobs, you are free to stay here if you're looking in the area.

I had better go for the day. My laundry will be done soon. Must go and fold things. :) Later.
