Stargate SG1 is T.V. series currently on the Showtime channel. It is based on the 19xx movie Stargate. An ancient artifact excavated in Egypt in 19xx is discovered to be an alien machine designed as a means of faster-than-light travel between planets. After the Aliens find out that the Earth portal they thought destroyed is active again, they unsuccessfully attempt invasion. The Air Force General in charge of the Stargate forms 9 teams to travel through. Thier job is to explore the planets and eliminate any threat to Earth that they find. The series follows the first team--SG1. It has some awesome special effects, and so far, good story lines.
