Alternative Army Mustering Rules

Troop Units in general are mustered first as levies(useful next action) then trained(Domain action) to Irregulars(or scouts), then Infantry(or Pikes or Archers), then either as Elite Infantry or Cavalry, and finally as Artillerists or Knights.

Or you may contract(Diplomacy) for mercenaries of the type you desire. They must already exist in the campaign to be contracted.

When Mustering levies, 1/2 the Province level or 1/3 the Holding level(both rounded down) can be raised a turn without permanently lowering the Province or Holding level. If you round up(for purposes of mustering) the level of the Holding or Province will be one lower beginning next turn. If you control a Province and any Holdings within it, they may ALL be used to muster independently.

UNIT Cost:

Levy: cost 0 to muster and 1GB/turn to maintain.
Irregulars and Scouts: cost 1GB to improve and 1GB/turn to maintain. Requires conversion of a Levy unit.
Infantry, Pikes, and Archers: cost 1GB to improve and 1GB/turn to maintain. Requires conversion of an Irregular unit.
Elite Infantry: cost 1GB to improve and 2GB/turn to maintain. Requires conversion of an Infantry unit.
Cavalry: cost 2GB to improve and 2GB/turn to maintain. Requires conversion of an Infantry unit.
Knights: cost 2GB to improve and 2GB/turn to maintain. Requires conversion of a Cavalry unit.
Artillerists: cost 2GB to improve and 2GB/turn to maintain. Requires conversion of an Elite infantry or Archer unit.
