Whenever a scion of any bloodline besides Azrai commits an act of blood theft on a scion of Azrai they must make a number of resistance checks against the corrupting influence of the blood of Azrai. This is a saving throw against Breath Weapon including ONLY the following modifiers:
Blood thief:
tainted bloodline | -1 |
major bloodline | +1 |
great bloodline | +2 |
CON adjustment to HP | + or - |
is a regent | +1 |
using tighmaevril or similar magic weapon | -3 |
already has corrupted blood | -1 |
has used corrupted blood abilities | -1 |
minor bloodline | -1 |
major bloodline | -2 |
great bloodline | -3 |
is a regent | -1 |
has higher blood strength | -2 |
night | -1 |
in the Shadow World | -2 |
Example:
Vladimir (MV; F5; Vo; major, 32; CN) has just slain an orog chieftain (MM; F5; Az, minor, 20; LE). Vladimir has a 16 con (+2 bonus) and is using a normal spear, it is well after dark. Neither Vladimir nor the orog are regents. Vladimir must make two saving throws against breath weapon (for the 20 bloodline strength of the orog) at +1 (+1 his major bloodline, +2 his CON bonus, -1 the orog's minor bloodline, -1 night). Rolling a 17 and a 3, he fails one of the saving throws and one of his blood points becomes corrupted. Vladimir did not receive a blood ability on the "1-10" section an must roll again to see if he gains a new ability. Rolling a "98" he does receive a new blood ability which will be rolled as if he had an Azrai bloodline.
If a character's corrupted blood points ever equals or exceeds their
true bloodline strength, their corrupted blood becomes their new bloodline
strength and they are now considered to have an Azrai bloodline.
