Like elves , gnomes are also confused with the little people. However
they are most likely a separate race, inhabiting deep underground
burrows like dwarves and knockers. They are rumored to have great
knowledge of the locations of gems and precious metals. Paracelsus
wrote that they could move through the earth, as unobstructed as a
fish does though water.
