Nagas are the Indian spirits of the land and water. They can take many
different forms including snakes, humans with snake tails and normal
humans, often beautiful maidens. Nagas are rumored to have many
magical powers, and like faeries are rumored to be masters of the art
of invisibility. They, also like faeries, live in magnificent
underground cities, the grandest of which is Bhogavati in the
Himalayas. It has never been seen by human eyes, but it is said to be
made of jewels and its streets are paved with gems. Most nagas are
helpful towards humans, sometimes helping them find lost treasure, or
win prizes. However the Naga-Sanniya are violent and malicious to
humans, causing nightmares about snakes.
