Lizard Breath : Part III
Worf scrambled up the leg of the obviously oblivious GodzillaBorg...
Better name than Crunch, the sound he made when he stepped on you... He
heard Zak Kebron behind him.
"Worf! Give me your hand," Kebron yelled as his hand reached out to Worf.
Worf managed to perch on GodzillaBorg's ankle. "What's the problem,
Kebron? Too big a problem for you?"
Kebron yelled some rather choice obscenities at Worf as he tried to grip
an assimilated scale. "You blasted p'tahk! Forget that!" Kebron reached
down to the gravity stabilizers at his belt and turned the intensity up
several times the norm. He shot up past Worf and grabbed the Klingon by the
shirt on his way. They landed next to an access port on GodzillaBorg's
knee. "Remind me to thank Robin again when we get out of this," he said to
Worf.
Worf grunted as he tore open the access port. They climbed into a shaft
made from an assimilated blood vein and worked their way up the beast.
Captain Mackenzie Calhoun nearly swore as the shields dropped to
fifty-five. He spun around to Lieutenant Robin Lefler. "What's the status
of the Borg cubes?" he barked.
Lefler twitched slightly as the ship shook with another impact. "The
nearest is close to destruction. The next is at 50%. The farthest is near
100%."
Calhoun swore, finally. He turned to Lieutenant Mark McHenry at conn. He
swore again when he saw McHenry's eyes were half closed as his fingers
danced over the controls. He knew McHenry's mind could do two or more
things at once, but he didn't like it all the same. He called, "Evasive
pattern Lefler-Kebron-Omega. Engage!"
McHenry's eyelids fluttered for a second and the ship swerved across
space. More torpedoes and phaser beams flew out at the nearest Cube. The
Cube exploded in a conflageration of flame and metal pieces. McHenry
suddenly came alive and whooped in pure unbridled happiness. That was cut
short as the most powerful cube dove in and fired its shield disruptors.
The Excalibur shot out of the area of space it was occupying just ahead of
the beam.
Kebron stretched his arms out. Finally, there was enough space to move,
although it was in a vein. He adjusted his gravity stabilizers and shot up
the vein towards the now electronic brain, Worf on his back.
End Part III...
