Biography:

Lyris had the exact opposite of a happy childhood. Well, maybe not exact, but then she can't really remember ever being a child. Her father had been a young, impetuous romantic and a warder in training for the tower. Her mother had been the daughter of a high ranking Whitecloak and was trained to be a delicate, fragile fluff-head... er Amadican lady. They met and eloped only three days later. They were deliriously happy for almost six months when the morning sickness began, followed by the fights. Lyris was the first born, but in no way the last. She was the darling of both of her parents and the only thing that could get them to stop fighting. Her mother turned to drink about the time, Lyris was nine and Lyris became the mother as well as the peacemaker of her family.

Lyris has rebelled strongly against going to the tower for training. The family needed her to hold them together, but finally she did go at the urging of her father. Four months after she left, she received word that her mother had died and she has always held herself responsible. She pulled an exceptional number of pranks as a Novice, but ever prank had a reason, be it a humbling experience for the proud or to keep the deeds of another to be discovered.

In Acceptedhood, she became a bit more sedated, but it turned out that it was really because she had learned the rules. After all, she had to learn the rules before she could figure out which ones to break. A proven peacekeeper, the Gray Ajah accepted her happily upon her raising, and then the rule breaking began. She was instrumental in smoothing ruffled tempers at the joining of the Black and White towers, but her methods left many people shocked, if they knew of what she had done at all. From her point of view, blackmail was completely acceptable if it ended the fighting and the other things that she did.... well, they worked, but she needed to leave for a time to allow... things to die down. 

She has recently returned to the tower, having spent a large amount of time simply traveling and settling minor disputes. She was more than a little surprized at being offered the office of Mistress of the Novices, but accepted the job with eagerness to do something useful for the tower again.

Lyris has long wavy dark hair that hasn't decided if it is brown or black. She has a theory that it has to do with sun exposure, but doesn't really care. In the sunlight, it takes on a reddish glow. Her eyes are somewhere between green, brown and blue, depending on what she wears and her mood. Thanks to the Aes Sedai agelessness she appears to be in her late twenties and her smooth complexion and full lips are lovely to any man. She moves with a natural grace that sometimes makes people wonder if she is part Domani, or even all. If she is not wearing her shawl, people have a tendency to assume she is a Green and she certainly spends her share of time watching the WiTs practice. Any argument is a way for the Dark One to gain a foothold, so no fight is below her notice. And she will fully embrace any challenge, with all the enthusiasm that she would take on a lover.
