Talents of Chasaline



Within the generalities of Channeling and the Five Powers comes this second subset, Talents. Talents are more specific abilities that allow someone to do something highly precise. Most Talents are applications of channeling, some are not. Channeling Talents usually require strength in at least one Power, and selecting that Talent should reflect one's Power abilities. Aes Sedai of Chasaline are allowed three Talents, but can have the ability to do something in a very minor way, not qualifying as a Talent. Listed below are the more common Talents people are allowed to choose from. A person wishing a Talent not on the list may appeal to the Hall for it's use.

Foretelling


The ability to Foretell the future, in a general way. The Foreteller frequently goes into a trance-like state and recites their prophecy in the form of a poem, using more symbolism then clear fact. It's relation to the Power is unknown.

Making Ter'angreal

The ability to create ter'angreal from wood, metal, or stone using the One Power.  Requires the ability to weave the five powers together in different balances according to the function of the ter'angreal being created.

Sensing/Seeing Ta'veren


The ability to see that someone is a Ta'veren, characterized by a glow around them. It's relation to the Power is unknown.

Viewing


The ability to see "Pieces of the Pattern" round a person, foretelling in some way their fate. Sometimes the pictures are very clear and other times symbolic, but the Viewer can usually divine it's meaning, except in instances where the Viewing itself is unclear. It's relation to the Power is unknown.

Dreamwalking/Dreaming


A Dreamwalker can enter the World of Dreams unaided, as well as find the dreams of others and act in them. A Dreamer has the ability to have dreams that fortell future events, again in an often symbolic way. The two abilities are usually paired, although there are instances where they are not. It's relation to the Power is uncertain, save Spirit can be used to transport someone to the World of Dreams.

Healing


Healing is the Ability to cure illness or fix injury by using the One Power. In theory, all things but Death can be Healed, but the reality frequently seems to fall short. It always requires strength in Air, Water, and Spirit, and some Healings can use Earth and Fire as well.

Cloud Dancing


The ability to manipulate the Weather using the One Power. Requires reasonably high strength in Air and Water, although all Spirit, Earth, and Fire can be used in some areas.


Ta'ima Rahsine, Accepted

Earth Singing


Controling the movements of Earth with the One Power. Can be used to cause/prevent events such as Earthquakes and Landslides. Requires high strength in Earth.

Wolfkin


Wolfkin is a highly unusual ability apparently unrelated to the power. Wolfkin can communicate to Wolves via thoughts, and take on many of their characteristics, including enhanced senses and the golden eyes. Accompanied by a Wolf they can also enter the World of Dreams.

Delving


The ability to locate Ores and remove them from the Earth. Requires strength in Earth.

Traveling


The ability to construct gateways allowing one to move from place to place without actually crossing the area between. Requires general stength in the Power.

Wave Dancing


The ability to perform complex acts with water, such as tidal waves. Great strength in Water is needed, as well as extreme skill with the weaves. This Talent takes years to fully develop and can only be claimed after one makes Aes Sedai.

Compulsion


The ability to cause people to do things, force them to do so even if they wish otherwise. Only especially strong willed people can break through it. Requires extremely skilled weaves of almost pure Spirit flecked with Air and Water.

Illusion

The ability to change the appearance of people, places, or things with the One Power.  Requires strength in Spirit, but also all aspects of the Power to manipulate the Illusion well.
