Ariel Quinn
Ariel was born to single mother Eliza Kizer, a civilian working for the British Embassy in Hong Kong. Eliza never revealed to anyone, not even her best friend Nicole Quinn, who was the father of the child, and maybe she really did not know who it was and was embarrassed to speak that fact to such a proper lady like Nicole.
At the age of one, Ariel's mother died of terminal cancer. Before she had died, Eliza had asked Nicole to be Ariel's guardian, and she agreed. Sometime later, the Quinns adopted her totally as their own child. Trent and Nicole already had a son the age of five when they adopted Ariel into their family. His name was Alex, and all he -really- wanted for Christmas was a dog!
Trent Quinn is an importer/exporter originally from England, and Nicole is a high school teacher born in Canada. The Quinns are upper middle class people living in Hong Kong. These parents did everything in their power to make their children happy. Nicole, most of all, feeling as if she had to take extra care of Ariel in the memory of her friend Eliza. Trent, on the other hand, seemed to be very hard on Ariel as she grew up. Sometimes even harsher and more strict with her than with Alex.
Years passed, and Alex began to lose his temper more often than not; his grades began to decline in school from A's to F's and D's. One fateful night in his 14th year, he accidentally hospitalized Ariel in a fit of rage. Upon hearing of the soothing discipline of martial arts, his parents sent him to Japan to study. Ariel was 10 at this time, and, when Alex left, though he was responsible for her condition, she began to miss him. Since Alex was away, Trent felt Ariel needed something else to occupy her, and hence, sent her to gymnastics classes. She was already an active young girl and had a natural talent for being agile.
When Alex returned two years later, he didn't give her much chance to get to know the now calm Alex Quinn. He spent most of his time training or catching up in school and seemed to ignore her every try to get his attention. Most of the time she spent with him was in harsh words for a prank she pulled so that he might say -something- to her. Though she felt angry over this, she did not let it show.
Ariel is the kind of person who displays a bubbly cheerful disposition no matter what trouble she might have in her heart. Well, she may argue with her brother or her father, but those are the only people who ever received a sharp word from her. She ignores the political issues around her as if it will not affect her in any manner, and she does not allow much to irritate her.
After his graduation, Alex immediately joined the army at the age of 18. Trent did not approve of this at all, and snapped whenever anyone mentioned Alex's name in the house for quite some time. Ariel attempted to keep in touch with Alex over the years. She kept in touch with him, but he didn't seem to say much on the phone or in letters. With Alex gone, she didn't have anyone to play pranks on. So, she fell in with the ‘in crowd' at her school and began playing her pranks on other people. Trent didn't know what to do with her; they constantly fought over what she did, who she spent her time with, who she dated, where she went all the time. Finally, hoping that she will straighten out, he sent her to Oxford to further her education after graduating from high school.
At Oxford, Ariel still could not stay out of trouble. It seemed her irresponsibility and impulsiveness always put her in the wrong place at the wrong time. At the age of 22, her tricks finally went overboard. Oxford expelled Ariel, and her father was furious about it. Demanding that she return home immediately, he pays for her fare back to Hong Kong. But Ariel, not really wanting to face her father's wrath, changes destinations at the Airport to the last place she knew Alex to be: New York City.
Since then, Ariel's naivete has led her into many scrapes and troubles. Recently, she enrolled at Arcadia Institute through her brother's influence. It was there that she became involved with Johnnathon LeFleaur, a fellow student.
Due to an incident of self-defense, Johnny's friend Levi was "killed." Because of this, Johnny fell despondent and withdrew from the world into his own mind. He even attempted to kill himself. He escaped the Psych Ward at the Hospital at which he was being kept. Alex, on his nightly hush-hush job, noticed Johnny's condition and proceeded to help. Johnny, however, did not seem to want Alex's help and fought him vigorously.
Magneto and his doctor, Indira, came upon the scuffle and immediately blamed Johnny's injuries on Alex. Indira healed Johnny, and Magneto took Johnny with him and Indira to Genosha after causing buildings to fall in Alex's wake.
Needless to say, Ariel is now trying to find a way to Genosha.
