DCC Signal Generator Requirements

The requirements for the DCC Signal Generator are:

  1. output a +/- 5V DCC encoded signal to be converted to the +/- track voltage by an external power Booster.
  2. output a +/- 12V Programming Track Power supply encoding the DCC signal.
  3. provide an RS232 interface of at least 9600 baud which will be used to communicate with the host PC.
  4. function using the Control Protocol.
  5. maintain the bit sequence to repeatedly transmit to the Booster Signal. The bit sequence is 64 bytes in length (+64 bytes shadow = 128 bytes total).
  6. maintain the bit sequence to transmit to the Programming Track Power. The bit sequence is 16 bytes in length (a shadow is not necessary).
  7. have a reset button
  8. have an on/off switch.
  9. have 3 indicator LEDs; a 'System On' (green), an 'Overload' (red) and an 'Error' (red).
