If you're not familiar with the term Fortean, it comes from Charles Hoy Fort, a gentleman who collected stories that defied explanation and threw scientists into fits.
This includes things like falls of fish from clear skies, spontaneous human combustion, cryptozoololgy (literally hidden animals),
and a large variety of other phenomena. I'm afraid that I don't have any personal Fortean anecdotes, but my hometown of Rockford, Illinois has a few. This link won't take you to the stories, but they can be found
in Loren Coleman's book Mysterious America. (note: It's been re-released and updated. It's available through most booksellers, especially Amazon).
The Rockford Register Star recently carried an story that had some unusual aspects to it. You can read it here. Is it a case of SHC? There are some aspects of it that seem similar to other cases.
Rockford had a UFO sighting on January 11, 2001. There are some photos here. This isn't the first time they've been spotted in that area.
