Well, I finally get a chance to speak for myself. You already know a little bit about me or you wouldn't have bothered to come here. Just a few words about myself. I'm 5'7", dark red hair, green eyes. My parents are divorced. Mom lives in Florida with her new husband and my two half-sisters. Dad's in Arizona. I think he married his secretary. God only knows. They split back when I was about 14. I went to live my grandparents. You couldn't have asked for any better people. My grandfather taught me what little I initially knew of the guitar. They died a couple of years before I was embraced.
A little bit about the band... When we first got together, Russ kept coming up with names that had kind of King Arthurish connotations. You know, Excalibur, Camelot... that sort of thing. (A play on my name if you didn't already figure that out). Fortunately, he was outvoted, and we became known as The Cult of the Disillusioned. We never told Russ, but Brad wrote a song about Morgan La Fey. Brad and I recorded it with some other people on the side.
Speaking of Brad, he's my best friend. We've known each other since we were little kids. Actually, we're probably closer than most friends. If I'd had a brother, I wouldn't be any closer to him than I am to Brad. I guess a lot of people wouldn't quite understand our relationship, so I'm not even going to try.
We do some covers of songs. You have to when you first start playing. People want to hear songs that they know. You just work in your stuff in between until they know your songs. I like Metallica, but, outside of Fade to Black, I can't sing it. I don't have the right voice. I do pretty well with Rainbow, Yes, Rush, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, etc. I'm not into grunge, although we'll play Black ever so often. Mostly, we play metal/hard rock. This doesn't mean that I won't slip in some Type-O Negative like Black No. 1,Bloody Kisses, or Blood and Fire. Myabe some Melissa Etheridge, Sarah McLachlan, U2, or Dream Theater, too. It all depends on our mood and the type of gig we're playing.
