Assistant Director Walter S. Skinner

Assistant Director Walter S. Skinner is the immediate superior of Special Agent Mulder and Scully. A strict, by-the-book man with a strong sense of duty and honor from his marines days. Skinner often frown upon Agent Mulder's unorthodox investigative methods.

In the beginning, it was unclear which side Skinner was on. He toke orders from the Cancer Man, but he also helps out his troublesome agents when they are clearly in hot water. However during the MJ files fiasco, Skinner stuck his neck out for his agents and threatened the Cancer Man. Which later earned him a beating and a shot to the stomach. When Agent Scully discovered her cancer, Skinner warned Mulder against making a deal with the Cancer Man. However, he didn't listen to his own advice. He was recently involved in a cover up as a direct result of the deal.
