Protecting Sketchy from muggers, Max has her picture taken by a man with a camera attachment. When Logan sends her to investigate the deaths of recently-paroled prisoners, she discovers that the strange man is somehow connected and possibly the killer...
This is one of those episodes which is difficult to classify. The main premise is a vital one for shifting the nature of Logan's fight against crime, but the plot itself is fairly weak and the presence of Phil, the exo-skeleton enhanced camera man, seems merely to be an excuse to get Logan back on his feet again, something you can see coming a mile off. It takes too long for Max and Logan to get to the bottom of the murders, and I'm still not entirely clear exactly why they had to die. Phil is a fun and unusual character, but not particularly well-used.
It's interesting to see Logan's reaction to his family again and his true heroism in bringing down the Cale Foundation, the organization which funds his efforts, is good to see, especially as it will make his life more difficult while simultaneously shifting suspicion of his being Eyes Only. The death of his Uncle Jonas isn't really necessary and the killer hovercam is a weird idea and is dealt with extremely easily by Max. The biggest problem is the almighty glitch in the system which means the camera comes chasing after Max in Logan's car despite the fact that it works on picture reference. Surely it should just track Logan wherever he is. And when it concentrates solely on attacking Max, evidently its program has shorted out somewhere.
It's a poor story that's really only there to shake up the status quo a bit. It makes Logan destitute but gives him the chance to walk again, and it provides Madame X at Manticore with a weapon to use against her wayward charges. But aside from that, there's not really a lot of point to it all.
