Earth: Final Conflict: 'Crossfire'

As the close of the Presidential elections looms with Doors close to winning, an assassination attempt must be averted. But of who?

To a degree, much of the second season has been aiming towards this point. Doors' presidential campaign, the Resistance taking a more proactive approach, the friction between Zo'or and Da'an; it all comes to a head here with surprising consequences. In a piece of truly superlative writing, Crossfire starts off seeming like a less-than-adequate finale, with slow plotting and no action. However, it's all to lull the viewer into a false sense of security, as we are treated to a truly shocking last ten minutes or so with things taking an abrupt and unexpected (although totally reasonable plotwise) turn for the worse for the Resistance, and indeed Earth.

It's good to see this kind of tight scripting in the show after earlier disappointments, and hopefully we'll get more of this next season, assuming any of the characters survive the 'No! Don't stop there!' cliffhanger. I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat for season three.
