A new exhibition of Taelon artifacts is about to open, and Kincaid, Lili and Sandoval are sent to make sure everything is okay. During the visit, Liam discovers that his shakarava (a Kimeron ability associated with glowing hands) has set off what looks uncannily like Star Trek's Guardian of Forever. Knowing how these things work, Liam steps through the portal and discovers himself two days in the future. The entire Liberation has been wiped out, and Liam is eventually forced to conclude that he is the person responsible for his new friends' deaths...
Once again, Earth: Final Conflict relies on an old Science-Fiction chestnut: time travel in which something bad has happened, and the person who knows must make sure the event doesn't come to pass. However, once again the show proves what else it does well: it can make a fresh idea out of an old one, managing to incorporate the concept into its overall story arc. This episode is more focused, and all the better for it. There is just the right amount of plot for 45 minutes.
What is particularly highlighted by A Stitch in Time though is how the series has changed. In his new position of power as head of the Synod, Zo'or can get away with just about anything, and is making his attempts to bump off Kincaid far from subtle. This has also allowed the viewer more insight into the overall Taelon plan, as both he and Da'an are now discussing things previously hinted at more openly. This does mean the series has lost some of its mystery, but there are still plenty more plot threads to be followed up. What is most satisying here though is the added dimension Robert Leeshock's character is given, making him much less of a Boone clone and more his own man.
