Earth: Final Conflict: Entombed

Renee and Street accidentally release an Atavus from centuries of hibernation within Stonehenge, but he claims that he is not warlike like the rest of his brethren and that the aliens mean no harm. He is, of course, lying.

Now, as I've pointed out in my review of the X-Files episode 4-D, if you can think of several better approaches to an episode than the writers, something's badly wrong. While this has been the case several times already for this season of E:FC, here is a prime example. This would have been way better if a) it wasn't a ludicrous Street love story and b) the Atavus was telling the truth and his race are peaceable.

As it is, the whole episode quickly becomes incredibly predictable, with the Atavus revealed as a liar early on and Street somehow falling for him when he looks exactly the same as the other Atavus, no more gorgeous and sexy than any of the others. After countless episodes of Renee making the world's most stupid decisions, evidently it's Street's week. After demonstrating her feelings towards the Atavus all too well in the opening 'previously' segment, somehow her hormones suddenly get the better of her. What is it with these girls this year? Sex obsessed and with no control over their common sense.

We're seen all the rest of this before. Running, chasing, Sandoval turning up and failing to blow up Renee thanks to some strategic jumping, a few people who just turn up to get killed. It's all the same old stuff. And what have we got by the end of it? Nothing once again. No progress, no character development, no nothing. Why would anyone still be watching this series?
