Escaping from Gametown after an attack, the LEXX crew visit Boomtown, where everyone has sex all day long. As Stan gets everything he's ever wanted and Xev gets increasingly irritated, Duke plans to take Prince's empire.
This series is becoming oddly compulsive viewing, partly because the writers seem to have come to the conclusion that they can get away with anything now and are trying to do just that, and partly because it keeps throwing in odd new surprises.
I'm still not really any the wiser as to what is happening at the heart of it all, but that doesn't matter. Part of the fun is the gradual journey through it all, and nothing is expected; in this episode it's the arrival of a very much alive Kai that causes the puzzled looks to emerge, followed by Prince being taken out of the picture a second time and May swiftly following him. But is anyone really dead in this series?
Although still rather slow, a complaint that seems to apply to the whole season to date, this episode is not only very intriguing but also good fun as the sexual innuendo reaches fever pitch just as Stan manages much the same in the company of one, then two, then finally five extremely attractive naked women. They don't call it Boomtown for nothing. Meanwhile, the person who physically needs sex is treated to a fine example of foreplay until she can't take any more. Then, of course, there's Kai, advanced upon by Bunny who simply can't get it into her head that he's dead, which leads to all manner of comic moments as Michael McManus keeps a totally straight face throughout.
It's a great ending too, as the LEXX crew and associates head into the sunset chased by their own moths in one of the many pieces of superlative CGI effects work seen in this episode in particular. Almost as enjoyable as Stan's experience...
