With some help from a possessed Stan, Kai's proto-blood is stolen and used to revive Vlad, a hunter of rogue assassins from the Diving Order, who wants all of Kai's proto-blood so she can live again. Can Kai beat her with help from Xev?
This episode could have been merged with Walpurgis Night without losing anything. It's slow, it's predictable, and aside from a couple of funny moments (Stan's vision of possessed versions of Xev, Kai and 790 is marvellous), it's not really amusing either.
What we have instead is Kai being thrown around like a sack of potatoes, some dreadfully embarrassing double entendre filled dialogue from Vlad that isn't big or clever and an ending that's telegraphed about 25 miles away from the minute Xev is told that someone with a pure heart can beat Vlad. Stan is reduced to wandering about in a daze and being drained of Vlad's controlling enzymes that keep polluting his blood, and Xev spends most of her time running about rather slowly to escape Vlad.
The supporting characters that were around in the previous episode are reduced dramatically and don't get a vast amount to do and Vlad spends so much time doing nothing that you wonder if she's really as malevolent as she claims. The mystery of the previous episode is dispensed with in favour of a bit of running and fighting and there's not much of an explanation of Vlad or why she's turned up on Earth. All in all it seems to be a missed opportunity.
