Millennium: 'Forcing the End'

A woman is abducted so that her baby may become a priest who will bring forth the end of the world.

Another millennial prophecy from the Bible takes us back into Season Two territory with this episode, which guest stars Babylon 5's Andreas Katsulas and Buffy's Juliet Landau. It's an unpleasant concept, stealing someone's baby for whatever means, and the writer of this story does draw the viewer into this plight in an effective way, helped by some strong acting on the part of the guest stars. However, it never really goes anywhere.

There are references to the Millennium Group, Peter Watts puts in a brief appearance, Hollis becomes more anti the Group than before, and possibly more so than Frank. But all of these elements don't add anything significant to the story, which is a fairly basic search tale. The idea of 'forcing the end' of the world is an intriguing one, but it doesn't lend itself to a storyline.

There is a suitably climactic finish with a helicopter above a building, but the end result comes after too long, and is no surprise at all. It's difficult to know what else could have been done to this, and, even if only because of Millennium's production values, it's worth watching, but there's not a lot to get your teeth into.
