Emma returns to her home town with Frank to investigate a murder that is merely the latest in a string of six over the last six years.
A totally different tack for Millennium, seeming rather out of place in what's been billed as a seven-episode arc. Admittedly returning to the last place she was happy has something of an effect on Emma, but an examination of these feelings would be extremely dull. hence the writers steering clear of it. If anything, Nostalgia focuses more on Frank.
This is a much more traditional episode, barely coming under the title of Millennium, as it focuses almost exclusively on Frank and Emma's good working relationship and their abilities as profilers. Frank is led around by his gift, thereby making solving the case seem rather obvious. What's strangest is that there is no twist to the story. I was expecting a sudden dramatic revelation but none ever comes. On the positive side, this means that the episode is purely about how Frank works to piece together evidence and obtain a confession, something not usually seen. On the other hand, it doesn't make for a particularly exciting episode.
Interesting enough to see a straight investigation rather than somethin Group-related or mystical in nature, but at this late stage in the season, it seems rather pointless.
