Millennium: 'Thirteen Years Later'

A serial killer is on the loose on a film set, and Frank may go mad before he finds him.

Now this is the kind of episode Millennium should be doing, if the producers insist on doing the serial killer tales a la Season One again.Thirteen Years Later was transmitted on Halloween, and is very creepy. The killer, it turns out, is mimicking the murders of various filmic slasher killers, which is a little too close to Scream territory, but it's done with such style here that it doesn't matter.

This episode holds together much better than its earlier colleagues, as it retains the tension throughout, contains several shock tactics that make you believe another murder has taken place, and throws in a clever dramatic twist at the very end which works brilliantly. It's a classic whodunnit in the way everyone on the film set is so suspicious that you believe any of them could be the killer, and it's almost impossible to work it out before the culprit is revealed. Frank even gets a chance to get off some witty comments, and he and Hollis work very well as a team on what is really their first proper case together. Now all I'm waiting for is for Frank to introduce himself as 'Agent Black, FBI'.
