A fading starlet calls in Bert Myers and his team to protect her from attempts on her life, but the killer seems more determined to kill Myers than his charge.
Slowly but surely we're getting some character development, and here we get another glimpse into Bert Myers' shady past and his first meeting with Nick (temporarily clean-shaven during this episode, which doesn't suit him somehow). Rather amusingly, Bert's past is actually a lot more interesting than Nick's, and it would be nice to have this supporting character fleshed out more.
There's a slightly different spin on immortality in this one as the killer in question is a man Nick shot and killed four years previously, a fact Myers covered up. It's a shame we don't get more insight into what it's like to be dead and come back to life to find your life has effectively been wiped. After all, you're not going to be able to get near your money again, are you? On the other hand, of course, you're not going to die of starvation...
Watching Nick take on an intelligent Immortal, but eventually leaving Amanda to do the necessary, is interesting viewing, with Wolfe actually showing some degree of ability in his new profession. The starlet he is protecting, played by Lysette Anthony, is not really worth the screen time she gets, even if she is fairly well known.
Again, the main three cast members work well as a team here, although I don't quite know why Myers can't be told about Immortals. I mean, what difference will it make to him? The other thing I don't understand though is how come Amanda with over 1200 years of experience swordfighting has such a tough time beating Brennan, a man who's only been doing same for less than four years, especially after her despatching of Korda last week.
