Dicants

Dicants are one of the deadlier predatory species on S'mKiith. With about the mass of a human and the speed of a jungle cat, the dicant is, without a doubt, the most lethal vegetable in the known galaxy.

The dicant moves almost without sound, stalking its prey as well as any animal. After setting up its attack plan, the creature tenses its "muscles," "roars" (the sound is actually produced by tiny air sacs in the creature's throat), and attacks with its rigid oral spines and claws. Not only are they uncommonly strong but, lacking any vital organs, dicants are also extraordinarily difficult to injure, especially with physical weapons. This superhuman resilience has lead to a number of native "dicant remedies." According to several tribes, the only way to kill a dicant is to reach down its throat, turn it inside-out, and toss it into the sea.
