Ok....breeding a chocobo is not exactly easy. It requires a lot of time and money, and I do mean a LOT of time. First thing's first, once you have the Highwind go ahead and find Choco Bill's satbles. Go into the house and purchase as many Stables as you can (That will cost quite a bit of money bt you will have room to breed). Now equip a member in your party with the CHOCOBO LURE and set it out to catch some chocobos....
First you will need a Blue and Green Chocobo. But before you get them you should know the different type of chocobos and where to get them....here are the types:
•Useless: Standing Chocobos (Standing & Swaying), Bad Chocobos (Walking with head down) •Walking: Head up, walking •Running: Head up, running •Dashing: Head down, running extremely fast
And where to get them:
•Southeast of Golden Saucer: Walking Chocobos •Southern Island (Where Cloud was in a coma): Running Chocobos •Northern Continent (Western Side): Dashing Chocobos
Now that you know where they are, follow these steps to succesfully breeding a Golden Chocobo...
First catch 4 chocobos. A male and Female walking, and a male and female running. Now go to the patch of green on the northern continent below the Chocobo sage's house.....equip the STEAL materia. Wait untill you are attacked by a red dragon, steal from it. You should steal a Carob nut. Steal two and head back to the stables. Save and breed the male walking with the female running, you should get a green (Mountain) Chocobo. If you didn't reset the game and try again. If you continuosly faila t getting the chocobo you want try racing the two parents a little more. Also make sure you are feeding them the Carob nut when you feed it. Now breed the Female Walking and male Running for a Blue (River) Chocobo. If you are succesful save again.
Now you should ahve all of your stables full so release every chocobo EXCEPT for the Blue and Green one. Now go out and get another Carob nut. Here comes the wait, wait until the two chocobos (By the way, make sure the Blue and River are different Sexes so you can breed them together) mature so you can breed them. Save and breed them with the Carob nut. The offspring should be a a Black chocobo. If so, save and continue on to the next step....
Now go to an island in the northwest corner of the map. There should be some forests there, land and wait until you are attacked. You should be attacked by goblins, steal from them. You will hopefully steal a Zeio Nut. If so, go to the northern continet and catch a DASHING chocobo. Once you have done that save. Race the chocobos as much as you can. When your Black Chocobo becomes ready to breed, breed it with the Dashing. The offspring sohuld be a legendary GOLDEN CHOCOBO. Once you have done that continue on to the final step
There is a small island in the top Northeast corner of the map. The island will not be show on the map, but it is there. Ride your Golden Chocobo there and cross the mountains. Now get off and enter the cave in the island. You should find a red materia. That materia is....THE KNIGHTS Of The ROUND. An awesome materia that can inflict a total of 91 THOUSAND damage. And those are the secret to breeding chocobos.....enjoy your new mode of travel.
