Get your own Free Home PageDr. Rayce, Brandon to his friends, walked into the laboratory's reception room early Thursday morning and was greeted by a punch from fellow scientist Storm Morgan.
"This is for last night," said the puncher angrily. He was referring to his dinner date the night before with Kate Hawkins, a lovely biogeneticist. It was a well known fact around the lab that the two men constantly competed for Dr. Hawkins's affections. Storm had managed to win her heart, and Brandon absolutely hated him for that fact. The previous night, in the middle of a romantic dinner at L'Amour, a French restaurant in Shadow City, Rayce had appeared and attempted to show up Morgan by doing various circus acts. He did not succeed. "I can't help it if Kate can't resist my charms." said Storm triumphantly.
"Hmph." Brandon grunted and walked through the opening room and towards the Bionics and Cybernetics R&D center. Storm got the impression that Brandon was unhurt by the punch, which was good. Neither scientist wanted to hurt the other. Storm, like Dr. Rayce, headed to the Bionics and Cybernetics R&D center.
Both doctors spent the day researching uses of bionics and cybernetics, Brandon in the military, Storm in medicine. Both were despondent after learning that Kate had come down with some 24-hour bug, but only Storm went to her apartment to give her a get well card and some flowers.
That evening, Storm ate dinner at his brother Ray's house in Kobleton, a suburb of Shadow City. On the way home, on a small back road, a blue glow surrounded the scientist's car, and he lost consciousness.
