one of the things i like about wearing rubber is that it looks a bit other-worldly. a body covered in a shiny second skin can look slightly non-human. i like the mystery that adds. it allows me, for example, to reconcile my shy side with my exhibitionist side, since if i was wearing rubber, you'd see me in a false skin, hiding everything but seeming to show everything.
somehow, this makes me think of aliens. i love old sci-fi movies where the aliens are all humans with colored skin in costumes. the alien women, especially, are often just particularly statuesque women in silver outfits that accentuate their feminine charms. that kind of outfit is my favorite kind of halloween costume, though i can never figure out how to make a big clear bubble helmet to finish it off.
i also think of aliens when i see rubber costumes that involve gas masks. you can't quite see who's in there, and it could be anything, even though the body is all woman. something about the dichotomy between a sexy body and a big expressionless head excites me, and i very much want to experience it from the other side of the fence.
besides gas masks, i like masks and helmets that obscure the expressions by covering the mouth and maybe the eyes. if i ever win the lottery, i'll get a rubber company to make some special gear for me:
- a mask of shiny black rubber, with large mirrored bug eyes, no visible mouth (a gag underneath), and tubes instead of nostrils. the tubes would get attached to a backpack style air supply. the outfit would be completed by a thick catsuit with rubber spikes or bumps along the arms and legs (also on the top of the helmet), like a dinosaur.
- a mask/helmet with a long rectangular slit for the eyes, covered by a darkened lens. the nostrils are invisible, and the mouth is covered by an opaque metal grating. this hole would be for breathing and talking - a voice changer would make both actions sound slightly robotic. the body for this outfit would again be a thick catsuit, this time in white rubber, and accessorized by gauntlet-style gloves, thigh high platformed boots, and a stiff-legged walk. in case you couldn't tell, this outfit was inspired by Star Wars - a mix of Darth Vader, the Stormtroopers, and the disguise Leia wears to rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hut's lair.
- the least human of the three, in sky blue rubber, would have a blank-faced mask. the eyes and ears would be completely invisible, and the mouth and nose covered by a surgical-mask style attachment, also in rubber. it would have enough tiny holes in it to allow safe breathing, and would also hide a gag. a matching catsuit with built in heels would be worn over a posture collar and corset, and would include a long tail. the gloves of the suit would cover human hands, replacing them with three long fingers.
