since it's almost time for Halloween, i've been thinking about some fetish costume possibilities. i first started thinking about how costume parties might be a good way to wear fetish gear in a semi-public setting without "outing" oneself (why else do they make so many "french maid" costumes?). the obvious ones (for me) would be Catwoman, Barbarella, sexy aliens, etc. then i let my imagination run wilder, so the following descriptions tend not to be very practical. but maybe my fantasies could inspire some real fetish costumes. they're all female costumes because that's what i like to fantasize about most.

the witch
all you need for the traditional Halloween witch costume is a tall pointy hat and a black dress. my fetish witch wears a tight black rubber pencil skirt over thigh-high lace-up platform boots. a lacy black fishnet top would peek out underneath black rubber opera-length gloves and a tight rubber corset. the final ingredients are the pointy hat and long flowing hair of black, grey or green. if she's a sub witch, she can integrate a strap on the hat with some sort of head harness. and if she's a witchinatrix, instead of a broom she carries a whip with a long straight handle.

the mummy
this one is an obvious fetish costume, with many possible variations. here is a very elaborate version, colored by my art history classes on ancient egypt. it's more than a costume.... imagine it done at a party, performed by "high priests" in appropriate gear, (full rubber suits and the various animal-head masks) with the mummy being the honored guest.
the mummy is laid on a ritual table to be prepared for the wrapping. first her body is shaved and washed. then her two lower orifices are filled appropriately (not with canopic jars, if you catch my drift). next her entire body is rubbed down with some kind of lotion (maybe something with tingly effects, like the kinds of things used in various bondage stories). the wrapping then begins, with each limb being wrapped individually as a first layer, and close to the body as a second layer. the wrapping could be made of lycra or another stretchy fabric, or rubber pieces. her body is wrapped from her toes to her neck. the ancients had funerary masks, and our mummy will have special headgear of her own... a full golden rubber mask with painted features on the outside. opaque lenses cover the eyes, and there are breathing tubes for the nostrils as well as a built-in gag (of course). a golden collar fits over the neck. the next step is to seal the mummy's wraps with a coating of liquid latex. after that dried, she could be lifted into her mummy case and secured inside (with the breathing tubes accounted for).

the mermaid
the logical extension of a hobble skirt is a closed sheath. this is the basis for the mermaid costume. she wears a greenish-blue hobble skirt that has been sealed at the bottom and ends in a large fin. the skirt is covered in individual rubber scales to make it more fish-like. the other major component is a clear latex corset to provide a lovely hourglass shape. perhaps her breasts are covered by a shell-bra made of thick rubber. Ideally she would wear a full clear latex catsuit underneath everything, as well as a mask, so that she would be watertight if she decided to take a dip.

medusa
the medusa would wear a tight sheath dress of dark green rubber, over black thigh-high boots, giving her a sultry walk. for some reason I'd like this costume to have a matching green corset and a black arminder, pulling her arms behind her (after all, it's not her arms you need to worry about). her crowning glory is a full face mask which conceals a gag and very small breathing holes, but leaves the eyes visible. as a sort of wig coming out of the top would be a mass of toy rubber snakes for her hair. to get very elaborate, she might be accompanied by a set of victims "turned to stone" by some sort of strict bondage.

the ballerina
this is a very submissive ballerina. she wears a full latex mask painted with girlish features, which hides a gag and cuts off her hearing and eyesight. a strict posture collar and harness forces her into an appropriate stance. she also wears a pink rubber corset, stockings and panties (the last of which is not at all covered by an extremely short, sheer tutu). her legs are forced into 2nd position by a spreader bar, and her wrists are cuffed to a practice bar (or cuffed behind her back, gracefully). and of course, her toes are en pointe, strapped and locked into pink leather ballet boots with eight-inch heels.
