Oh Night of Joy and Gladness
Traditional Christmas
Possibly a poem someone in Mabou set to music

Oh night of joy and gladness,
When over all the earth,
The happy news was carried
That told the saviour's birth.
The sound of triumph lifted
Is spreading far and near
That all who wake and harken
With grateful hearts may hear.
-

Oh night of wondrous glory
When to this world below,
Came down thy cheerful tidings
That everyone might know.
Then lift your voices sounding
The hopeful thought along.
That all who now are waiting
May hear the welcome song.
-

Oh night of nights most holy
So beautiful and fair,
That filled the heart of mankind
With love beyond compare
This grace and blessing given
To us in days of yore
Lives on to be the watchword
For us forever more.
