The Five Faces (Powerful characters? Yes. Too powerful? Probably. But they were fun, and they can add fire to a campaign when necessary.) The five faces are called such because that’s all that anyone really knows about them. These guys are the best, and that comes from Morgan himself. Their main games are theft and con games, but they have been known to use blackmail, and, once or twice, assassination. On the whole, however, they tend to avoid getting their hands dirty, which was very good for us, since they managed to walk, yes I do mean walk, into Morgan’s personal stronghold. They told him that they had been hired to kill him, but due to a favor owed to a couple of juves, they weren’t following out the contract. Then they offered their services to us, at no charge except for their continued anonymity. We’re not sure if they really are on the level, since they are con artists, but it seems like a good gamble that they’re with us. As I said there are five of them, but aside from that I can’t tell you much. They go by the names Laurel, Hardy, Abbot, Costello, and Marx, or at least that’s what they say they go by. We’re still not sure about anything else, not even their genders, and we’re never sure if we are seeing their real face or a disguise. Regardless, here’s what they often look like: Laurel: a woman late twenties, curly red hair, and blue eyes; Hardy: a man in his late thirties, well built, business cut blonde hair, and grey eyes; Abbot: A woman in her twenties, long black hair, freckles, glasses over green eyes, and a small scar under her eye; Costello: a male about forty years old, bald, walks with a limp, and brown eyes; and Marx: a male, late thirties, greying hair, and always wears sunglasses. Be forewarned however, these guys could appear as anyone, anywhere. The only thing we know for sure is that they all have chipware sockets Well, I can’t really tell you where they come from, since that would involve knowing their histories, but here is the rumor. A long time ago, Biotechnicia was beta testing a new mind enhancer and, being the fiscally conservative company they were, they recruited test subjects through kidnapping. Most of the kids died in the experiments, so many in fact that the procedure was never marketed, but some did survive. One was Marx, with a mind that could rival Einstein, and another was Abbot, a technical genius. One day, an extraction team breached the compound, and in the confusion, a quarter of the kids escaped, Marx and Abbot among them. No one knows what happened to any of the subjects, but the ones that remained in the compound were killed in the blaze. The two of them had been hardened by their experiences, and wanted to make the corporations pay. Eventually, they recruited other intelligent members, Laurel: a solo of the more subtle kind, Costello: a prowler with a gentle touch and a sense of humor, and Hardy: a netrunner specializing in remote operating systems. Through practice and teaching, they have become a dangerous force. What they can’t talk someone out of they’ll steal. All of them are quick, persuasive, and masters of disguise, but together they are even worse. They buy high level (usually black market) chips to give them skills and knowledge of at least fifth level. Abbot creates devices of startling imagination to suit their needs. All in all, I hope they are on our side . Stats and Skills (but remember these are con artists, so these are guesses at best) Note: All of them have a Neural Processor and Chipware socket Marx: Con Man
