Sages
Mental Memory Banks
^^^ And I thought you guys acted like insufferable know-it-alls before. This is disturbing to us real omniscients. --- Rache

General Iacolucci:
I'm glad to see that Project MacArthur was so successful. The increase in subjects has been a godsend to the research. The new resources have given us wonderful opportunities
for full examinations and dissections. You can expect the first comprehensive maximum stress test results by the end of the month. If you could expand the program beyond the Chicago area, we might be able to find a way to eradicate the vermin, rather than merely studying them.
The latest creature cataloged is a Wizard variant, nicknamed Sages. By taking advantage of the computerized minds of Wizards, Sages have become walking memory stores. First, the nanites have heightened their senses. Fortunately, the enhancements are by no means superhuman, they can sense in the same range as the rest of us, they are just more aware of their surroundings. Second, like Wizards, much of their nervous system has been replaced with hexite. Unlike Wizards, the hexite has no broadcast ability; rather it consists of an incredibly complex data storage system. So far, we are unable to determine precisely how the information is stored, but it is possible that rather than being stored in a purely binary or organic method, it is stored in a dynamic, three-dimensional, multibase array structure. I have one of the mathematicians at EBM working
on a theoretical base as we speak (fortunately, he has no idea what it actually is). According to his latest calculations, with current system standards it is virtually limitless. A side effect of this process is the general improvement of their nervous system, both CNS and PNS, leading to a slight gain in intellectual and technical ability due to the brains the increased speed of mental access, more sure calculation, and general efficiency boosting. Fortunately, this also makes them vulnerable to EMP based attacks. The net result is not only unconsciousness, but also temporary amnesia. We must find a way to capitalize on this. All of these alterations enable the Sage to catalogue and store tremendously detailed and complex information about their experiences. A rough equivalent would be someone wearing a braindance recorder for their entire lives and being able to access the information at any given point at a moment’s notice. It gives the creature a memory that is beyond compare; photographic memories are a distant second. Finally, there is a slight irregularity with their neck. On the back of the neck just over the spinal ridge, there is a small patch of hexite. One of my technicians theorized that it was an interface port for downloading experiences, in digital form, to an outside source. I feel that this is probably incorrect but have no better explanation. Unfortunately, the death of the subject deprived us of the opportunity to confirm or deny the hypothesis. I hope to find more subjects for further testing.
In a way, this mutation was a relief. It doesn't have the offensive capabilities of Tinmen, the disruptive capabilities of Wizards, or the intrusive capabilities of Scouts. They have a clear marking that we can find through careful scrutiny, although
the mutant can hide it with minor makeup, a careful hairstyle, or precise clothing choices. They have their uses, but are largely impotent against us. We will eradicate them easily, leaving us time for the more dangerous creatures.

Sage Statistics
Sage Skill: Recall (Int)
Recall functions as a measure of a Sage’s connection to their hexite memory structure. It is used whenever they attempt to remember information or to download it into another system (Table #1). One determines the difficulty for remembering an event by adding the clarity of the memory (Table #2) and how long ago it happened (Table #3). The difficulty can be altered by similar circumstances, mnemonics, or clues (GM’s discretion).
