Agas
Adolescent Artistes

"Smash the Trash!"
"Death to Whitewash!"
"Of course you don’t understand, look deeper."

You saw the computer generated, emotionless, flawless, corporate affirming pieces passed off as art by the establishment. You knew you could produce something better, more gritty, more real, more human. So you made your sculpture, painted your picture, or took your photograph. Why? "Artis Grata Artis", Art for art’s sake. That’s why you’re an Aga.

What you look like
Agas tend to wear whatever suits them that day. It may match or it may not, but it will attract attention. There is only one constant, you are never trendy. You believe trends are the symptoms of a world losing its aesthetic sense. The closest to trendy any member ever comes is to parody the style and show its shallow soul.
Aside from that, you usually follow your medium. Photographers tend to wear clothes with free range of movement and of course their cameras. Sculptors tend toward durable, yet damaged outerwear. Painters’ clothes tend to have a healthy dose of color not applied by the manufacturer. On the whole, you wear to work, and occasionally, wear your work.

Subculture
Agas are the artists of the CyberGeneration. There have always been those who have searched to create beauty or promote an understanding of the higher levels of consciousness. Each had their own voice. The ideas may change but the passion never does; the creation drives you. You must create the ultimate expression of anger, love, confusion, joy, fear, or insanity. You know that if you succeed, your name could echo through the centuries like Adams, Da Vinci, and Rodin. You may spend weeks, months, even years perfecting a single piece, or you may produce hundreds of pieces to show the panorama of existence. Or you might be somewhere in between. Nevertheless, there is always more to your work's expression.
Not that the corporations appreciate these labors of love. Your works speak to the fundamental components of humanity, the level they can’t control. The ISA doesn’t like anything outside their grasp. Your statues are crushed, your photo labs raided, and your paintings burned, but the piece is out there. Copies are being passed through the eager hands of other Agas, each critiquing, studying, and remembering. You know the Corps will never silence you. Even if they kill you, your work will scream. In the end, it’s about immortality in a world of mortals.
As free, artistic spirits, you have turned away from the structured mentality of the modern world. Instead, you function as a bubbling connection of cliques and circles. Members and materials run through the system with incredible speed and randomness. Your leaders are merely the members whose words and opinions carry the most weight. Their opinions and creations shape the direction of the entire yogang.

Belonging
To belong is simple, all you have to do is produce a work that touches the entire yogang in different ways at different times, stirs the most primal of emotions, raises them to a new level of understanding, and lets them see the world through a new set of eyes. That’s all. Once you were in, you merely had to keep contributing. This meant work, materials, or constructive criticism, preferably the first two.
Losing your place in the Agas is a gradual process. If someone hasn’t produced something new for a while and doesn’t seem to be working on a major project, they are slowly and politely removed from the group. They aren’t invited to as many viewings or performances; their works and comments are ignored and disparaged. Fortunately, this trend can be reversed at any time by producing a worthy piece. After all, every Aga understands dry streaks.

Allies and Enemies
Your closest ties are to the Taggers, Vidiots, and V-Punks; all different mediums, but same family. In addition, you appreciate the Lookers as models. However, you hate the Megaviolents, Moshers, GoldenKids, Gogangers, and GlitterKids for their destruction and perversion of the sensibilities. In the end, your greatest enemies are the Corps, who have whitewashed the world and drained its color.

Slang
The Glint: Inspiration
Rembrant: a beautiful sight
Points: the audience
Go Billboard: To sell out
Dust Jacket: A wannabe
Flash and Trash: GlitterKids, GoldenKids, GoGangers, and Megaviolents collectively

Yogang skill: Artist (Tech)
You create art. It may be in photography or oils, but you create items that make others stop and look. Your artist skill is a measure of your talent. The difficulties affecting the production could be the time, work environment, and subject. Throw into the mix the need for honesty to the subject (but not necessarily realism), and the job can become intense indeed. The GM creates the difficulty of a work based on the time, materials, and quality desired.

Using your Artist Skill

  • The Aga chooses a primary medium (if they are very specific the GM may extend an extra bonus) and a secondary medium. Their skill is at 100% for their primary, 50% for their secondary, and 25% for all others.
  • Also, since they have studied the great masters. They can use their Artist + Int to identify a true masterpiece (Average) and appraise its value (Very Difficult).
If you’re a Aga,
1) Tell me you name, age, and sex.
2) Describe what you look like.
