"Contagion" brings the Enterprise deep into the Romulan Neutral Zone to continue the search for the ancient Iconia that had been started by the captain of the Yamato at Denius III. While analyzing the computers on Iconia, Data noted a similarity between the Iconian language and that of Iccobar, Dewan and Dinasian.
Uncover Iconian Clues Iccobar: Compare artifacts and language of this society in effort to understand Iconians.
Archaeology + Anthropology + Stellar Cartography + CUNNING>30 Has , if Donald Varley in play.
35 points, span 3
The name of the mission itself reflects "Uncover DNA Clues" since both of these belong to a kind of series of missions. Iccobar is not really a planet as far as we know but it is a language that could be named after a planet, and it sounds pretty good as a planet too. I decided to follow the kind of trend that has occurred in other Iconia related missions where one non-federation affiliation can attempt. Cardassians would have just as much of an interest in the Iconians as any other affiliation. Now onto the requirements: the lore points to archaeology (artifacts) and anthropology (language) as important for this mission, stellar cartography has to do with trying to locate Iconia based on what they find, and the cunning requirement points to the fact that they will need brains to figure the puzzle out. Cardassians wont have a real easy time with this mission with no two skills appearing on the same Cardassian. But the Romulan's Dr. Koramar would love to espionage this mission with his Archaeology/Stellar Cartography combination. Donald Varley will also be jumping at the chance, of course it's easier for him since the mission's special ability mimics his access to other Iconia related missions. Points are average for an average to hard mission that the feds can crank up to 50 points with mission specialists. This is a very strategy specific mission that probably wouldn't appear in many Cardassian decks but makes for a fun fed theme deck.
