After another extended hiatus, I'm returning to continue putting out issues of "TCV..." this summer. So without further ado, I'll finish this late 2nd season episode with a sure to be controversial new game mechanic.
In "Q Who?" Q decides to play yet another great trick on the Enterprise crew by hurling the ship across thousands of light-years to System J-25 in the Delta Quadrant where they have the Federation's first (official) encounter with the Borg.
Classify Species System J-25: Conduct classification of previously unknown species and its technology.
Exobiology + Computer Skill + Transporter Skill + Drone When complete, you may download any Objective. Your hive without a current objective may scout. 30 points, span 5
The first thing that will jump out at you about this mission is the affiliation who can attempt it...the Borg. Up until now the Borg have been limited to using objectives to score their mission points. This revolutionary mission is its own built in objective. The object of this space mission is to beam (Transporter Skill) a drone (the nav drone) through the new ship's shields. Once there the drone will access the ship's database (Computer Skill) and evaluate the lifeforms therein (Exobiology). When you are done with this mission your hive can move on to another goal: maybe assimilating the opposing starship her, or a counterpart aboard it. Please let me know what you think of the concept of a Borg attemptable mission.
Thanks,
