"Up the Long Ladder" tells a tale of two colonies both from the same ship but with very different values. Both colonies are doomed, one by stellar flares the other by replicative fading. Picard's duty in the show was to convince these two groups, separated at colonization, to reunite despite their vast differences.
Reuinite Mariposa Colonists Mariposa: Persuade two doomed and different colonies to unite for their survival.
Stellar Cartography + Anthropology + Biology + Diplomacy
30 points, span 4
The Federation are the only people who would care about a bunch of human colonists enough to attempt to save them. In order to do so they must first deal with the stellar flares which fits into the role of a stellar cartographer. Then someone must understand the historical situation behind the colonies, a job for an anthropologist. The third requirement involves a biologist analyzing the problems of replicative fading from continued cloning that is affecting the Mariposa colony. The final requirement falls to a diplomat who must convince the leaders of these colonies to work together. For their efforts your away team will recieve an average (and Borg-safe) 30 points. The requirements on this mission almost mirror those of the 1st season TCV... mission Observe Star System from "Symbiosis." While that mission is only attemptable by Klingons, Bajorans, and Dominion these two missions would fit together very well in a treaty or espionage deck.
