"Shades of Gray" is the infamous season two finale that left a lot to be desired. While surveying the planet Surata IV, Riker is injured by a local plant form and falls into a coma where he relives events of the last two years of his life.
Planetary Survey Surata IV: Perform botanical survey of this uncharted world, watch for psychotropic flora.
Exobiology x2 + Biology x2 + INTEGRITY>30 Cards seeded here must come from hand. (Once per turn.) Any Away Team may attempt when four seed cards here. 30 points, span 2
This mission at first glance looks like your normal planetary survey, not unlike Botanical Research or Evaluate Terraforming which have similar requirements and objectives. This one however works a little differently than any other mission as far as seeding goes. Nothing is seeded here during the seed phase, instead, either player may seed cards from their hand during the game itself. The idea behind this is to have dilemmas that have already been encountered appear here, much like Riker experienced things from the past. I'm not exactly sure how this would work out, I suspect that as is, the player who seeded this would misseed a bunch of cards making the mission very easy. If anyone has an idea of how to make the game text more effective but keep the same flavor, please let me know. Any way on to the rest of the mission. It requires double doses of Biology and Exobiology. Keiko O'Brien being a botanist is perfect for the mission as is any pair of CMO's. Other affiliations will have a little more trouble coming up with these but it shouldn't be too bad considering that these skills are required on many dilemmas nowadays. The INTEGRITY requirement is a little hard to justify but I think it fits pretty well. The points are pretty good considering the diffuculty of the mission.
