The Continuing Voyages... #52

"The Bonding" Begins with the Enterprise investigating the remains of the Koinonian race which was composed of two separate life-forms. The physical Koinonians destroyed themselves in a civil war more than a millennium ago. The non-corporeal Koinonians remained on the planet and held very strong ethics.

Archaelogical Survey
Koinonian homeworld: Investigate ruins left behind after a great civil war a millennium ago.
SECURITY x2 + Archaeology + Geology + INTEGRITY>30
35 points, span 4

I chose the affiliations for this mission somewhat thematically: each of these races have had civil wars of their own, the Klingons and Bajorans Civil Wars exist as cards and have happened during the span of Trek history that we've seen on screen. The Romulans are actually offshoots of a civil war among the Vulcans which happened long before The Original Series even began. The requirements for this mission are pretty straight-forward: two SECURITY because Worf and Marla Aster made up the away team and they had to watch out for the subspace proximity detectors, secondly Archaeology will come in handy for an Archaeological Survey as they are studying ancient ruins, the Geology comes into play with the fact that the Away Team was venturing through subterranean tunnels that lead from one chamber to the next, and finally an ethical Away Team (high INTEGRITY) will be looked upon well by the ethical beings that inhabit the planet. The Romulans will be happy to take this mission on with their original, universal SECURITY officers, Jaron and Taul, who together cover all of the skill requirements and will only need 23 more INTEGRITY points to accomplish this mission, not to mention their potential downloadability via "Assign Support Personnel", the new objective for two-skilled personnel in TWT. The Klingons will come at this one with big shots like Mogh, who provides one SECURITY as well as the Archaeology and a good helping of INTEGRITY. The Bajorans have Rano Dake, Jaron's twin skill-wise, or Shakaar Edon. Those two will have to come up with the rest of their skills from multiple personnel but that won't be a problem because they'll need at least four or five for the INTEGRITY anyway. The healthy 35 points can be upped to 40 by Romulan or Klingon Archaeology specialists. A nice mission I'd like to see in a deck of mine.
Thanks,

Captain Targ
