Log edited with Logedit 2.6.9pl on Thu Aug 28 14:30:50 EDT 1997 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Transmission from DepthCharge: Errr... testing. Is this the right Communications Frequency. I am trying to contact Autobot Orca. You transmit a message to DepthCharge: I read ya lound n' clear...Orca here..whatcha need? Transmission from DepthCharge: Ahh, yes. Hello, I am Autobot Oceanographer DepthCharge. I saw your message on the Autobot's communications net about you being open for assignment. I hope that that option of availability sill stands." You transmit a message to DepthCharge: Oooooo! Yeah, I'm game! DepthCharge, huh? Sounds like another water-loving Autobot to me...what do you need to me do? Transmission from DepthCharge: Well, Aquanaut, myself and a few other Autobots are currently searching for what we hope is the still functioning form of Autobot Security Director Caern. Are you aware of the current situation? Just incase you are not, I'll give you the details. Through analysis by Aquanaut, we have discovered that Caern's last detectable position was in the Pacific Ocean, near an area very large in volcanic activity. I was hoping that you could help out in the search. You transmit a message to DepthCharge: Ah, I heard about that 'Caern'...sure, I'll help. I don't have too much in the way of sensory and location equipment, but I'll do what I can! You transmit a message to DepthCharge: Mind transmitting to me your current location? Transmission from DepthCharge: Yes, I am currently at 445.33 lng 1863.573 lat.. in the Central Pacific along the Mexican Coast You transmit a message to DepthCharge: Acknowledged...I'll rendevous with you shortly! Orca out! You head out towards the vast expanse of the Central Pacific ... Central Pacific Aquatic Tank approaches at high speed, leaving a trail of white mist in its wake as it speeds over the surface of the ocean waves. AquaticProbe is slowly circling the waters of the central pacific... Upon detection of the new arrival, he flashes his search lights in greeting, hoping that this is Orca. Aquatic Tank transmits loudly: "Salutations! Let the waters calm, for Orca has arrived!" AquaticProbe flashes his search lights again and approaches. The probe says through two external speakers "Hello there.. Autobot Oceanographer DepthCharge, glad to finally meet you." Aquatic Tank cuts a sharp turn to its starboard side, throwing a thick wall of spray through the air as it comes to a sudden stop. Over its speakers, "Same here...any idea where to start the dive?" AquaticProbe says through two external speakers "Well, I believe Aquanaut said that he had narrowed down the area to the southern pacific region. But that still is a rather large area to search. But in combination with the report that Caren's trace was last detected in a volcanic region then the search parameters have been narrowed down. Aquatic Tank transmits: "Alright, then...show me the way!" With sounds of shifting hydraulics, the black and white hydrotank seems to split in half, its bow moving apart and forming into arms. The large propulsion turbines at its rear fold along to the very top of the vehicle. Legs unfold from below as the black helm of Orca rises up from the middle of the vessel. Orca flips through the air and dives into the water headfirst. He stays submerged for several seconds, then his head and shoulder pop through the waves. AquaticProbe flashes his search lights and says, "Alright, just follow me." The probe's turbines kick in and it is sent shooting off through the ocean's water.. sending spray flying either side of it and medium waves in its wake. AquaticProbe heads out towards the vast expanse of the South Pacific . AquaticProbe comes into view across the ocean's expanse, traveling from the South Pacific . AquaticProbe charges through the water, turbines roaring. Orca splashes around in the water, then the turbines along his back switch on. He starts to swim along, then stops as he notices DepthCharge passing back through. "Do we have a ways to move along the surface?" he asks. AquaticProbe turns around and drops back a bit, saying "No, not at all. Sorry, it is just that I didn't know you have deep sea diving capabilities. But traveling beneath the ocean would be much more pleasent." Orca smirks, "Yeah," he says, spitting out some water, "I was built to withstand the pressure...I can take it." Orca barrels forward, kicking his legs over his head and slipping beneath the waves. You dive down Below Pacific Ocean ... Below Pacific Ocean AquaticProbe plunges beneath the surface of the Central Pacific . AquaticProbe charges through the water, turbines roaring. The turbines along Orca's back spin rapidly, propelling him into the depths. Along his left shoulder, a small yet powerful light beam flips out, pointing forward. AquaticProbe's search lights come alive with blazing light, casting illumination into the dark ocean waters. fish quickly dart away as the light comes too close to them. Orca transmits: "Okay, I've adjusted my visual range...lead the way, I'm right behind you." AquaticProbe flashes his lights and beings moving quickly through the ocean waters. Orca lets his arms fall along his sides as he propels himself forward. AquaticProbe heads up through the waters towards the surface of the South Pacific . AquaticProbe plunges beneath the surface of the South Pacific . AquaticProbe charges through the water, turbines roaring. AquaticProbe moves through the waters towards the depths Below Pacific Ocean . You move through the waters towards the depths Below Pacific Ocean ... Below Pacific Ocean AquaticProbe glides through the area and moves into communications range with Orca. The probe transmits "How's everything going? You keeping up alright?" Orca transmits: "Yeah...little harder to traverse such distances underwater, but maybe I'll find a way to circumvent that in the future." AquaticProbe transmits to Orca=Understood... I think we are nearing the area which Aquanaut talked about.. We will probably have to do a scan along the ocean floor to see if we can find anything." Orca nods his head toward the probe, still trying his best to keep up. AquaticProbe slowls down abit to Orca, but continues on his course to the location Aquanaut talked about. AquaticProbe moves through the waters towards the depths Below Pacific Ocean . You move through the waters towards the depths Below Pacific Ocean ... Below Pacific Ocean AquaticProbe transmits to Orca "Okay.. I think this is the area Aquanaut reported.. These dark waters will make searching all that more difficult, but with both of us working we should be able to quickly determine if there is anything to find or not." Orca begins to get swayed through the water unexpectedly. "Arg..." he murmers in a transmission to DepthCharge, "...didn't know the turbulence here whould be so bad. Let me try to compensate..." Orca seems to stand still in the water, then he darts forward...the grin evident on his face even at these depths. "All taken care of," he radios. "What would be the best way for us to search the area?" AquaticProbe cuts its turbines and drifts towards Orca, noting that he now seems uneffected by the turbulence. The probe transmists to Orca "I think if split up and begin a standard search pattern around all the volcanic regions in this area. And see if we can see any signs of the security director or of any recent disturbances." Orca transmits: "Okay, I'll do what I can...this little searchlight on my shoulder is only going to provide so much illumination." AquaticProbe flashes his search lights in agreement and kicks in his turbines, sending himself rocketing away from the form of Orca. The probe radios back "Remember, I'll be in constant radio contact. I'll be searching region Alpha 03293 mark 3532.2 " and quickly vanishes in the dark waters, assuming his search position. Orca transmits: "uh, alright...I guess I'll search in the opposite direction..." AquaticProbe moves through the area slowly, his search lights scanning across the ocean floor. IN the distance he can see the twinkle of light that is Orca's search light , and assumes that Orca is able to see his as well, D.C. thinks that with this they should be able to easily determine each other's progress. Orca dives downward, propelling himself through the turbulent waters toward the ocean floor. The small light along his left shoulder is quite bright, but provides only a very limited range of sight. He lands on the ground and rights himself, leaving footprints on the floor. AquaticProbe continues his sweep, not finding anything much. The Probe then moves closer to the volcanic formations, traveling in and out of small caves and rock formations as he searches. Orca slowly walks along the sea floor, his bouncing steps looking much like a man walking on the moon. His search light sweeps about five meters in front of him, highlighting the plankton and other deepsea life floating through the water. AquaticProbe stops as he thinks he spies something, but realises it is only the hull of an old, sunken ship. The probe circles around it a couple of times before resumming his course. A large eel swims into the view of Orca's light. It stops before the Autobot and swims in place, its tiny beady eyes looking into the bright beam. Orca smiles and reaches out to the eel, but it quickly darts away from his hand. AquaticProbe begins to ascent as he drifts up along the steep face of a volcanic mountain. D.C. radios to Orca "There has got to be a quicker way, I fear that if we continue with an optical search with just the both of us, that we could be here for days. Perhaps it is time we looked at this from a more scientific view point." Orca transmits: "uhoh...you're not going to whip out a discoure written by Perceptor on how he would deal with this situation, are you?" Orca transmits: "Do you think a series of flares launch from several meters higher in depth would help?" AquaticProbe transmits to Orca, "Actually, it is strange that you should mention that, as I came up with the idea from thinking about what Perceptor would do. See, we have to look at this from a mathmatical view point. Any item falling into the ocean would come to rest upon any part of the floor, or raises mountain. So that means we really don't have to worry about caves or anything. AquaticProbe transmits to Orca, "THe Flare idea is I good idea... We ascent a bit and fire flares along the areas of the floor and see if we can notice anything that looks as if it has crashed." Orca transmits: "Ah yes, the mathematical analysis would prove a tangent running at an angle of 512 degrees would impact along the ... hmm, maybe I'll let you scientists handle that sort of stuff." AquaticProbe transmits to Orca, "So how does this plan sound like. We determine the likely mathematical areas that an object may have crashed at, then we launch flares into those areas?" Orca transmits: "That will work...you do the math, I'll fire the flares. Yeah, I like that." AquaticProbe flashes his search lights in agreement and begins to ascent to a more likable vantage point. The probe's sensors ping the area with sonar, determining the geographical makeup of the enviornment and then D.C. beings processing different projections. Orca squats down, then leaps from the floor, starting his turbines as he does so. He spreads his arms out and holds a level position as he radios DepthCharge. "Tell me where to shed the light." AquaticProbe transmits to Orca.. "Okay... I have located five positions that rank fairly high. They are located as follows. 1st at 3393.34 lng 68483.35 lat | 2nd at 3393.12 lng 68483.54 lat. | 3rd 3393.34 lng 68483.10 lat | 4th at 3393.67 lng 68484 lay | 5th at 3393.01 lng and 68483 lat Orca transmits: "Okay...I think I understand. I'll drop the flares down from up here." Orca points his toes as he swims to a higher depth. He stops and looks down to the dark depths below. Lifting his arms, Orca aims as small pods pop up on each of his forearms. The tiny silver pods are ejected into the water and begin to spin around as the descend... AquaticProbe moves over to where Orca is positioned and begins scanning, ready for the new data that the flares should provide. Suddenly, bubbles explode from the pods as they begin to emit a shimming pink glow, casting some illumination through the water. AquaticProbe takes in all the data of the newly illuminated ocean floor and transmits to Orca "So you see anything that looks of value?" Orca transmits: "Not from this height. Let me dive back down..." AquaticProbe transmits to Orca "Rogre that... I will begin circling from above to see what other information I can pick up." Orca flips his legs behind him, tossing his arms forward as his turbines spin once again. He seems to drop from his stationary position immediately down toward the floor. The pink glow from the flares reflects brightly off his polished black and white frame. AquaticProbe's turbines kick in at the probe begins quickly circling the flare illuminated areas. Orca glides over the floor, panning his view from side to side as he looks around. He spins his light to sweep his field of vision, but instead of finding the security director, all he sees before himself is sand and deepsea algae. AquaticProbe continues circling one of the flare illuminated areas, but notices something relecting the flare light. AquaticProbe transmits to Orca "Orca, I see something in position 2... It is refelecting the flare light. I am going down to check it out.. I'll meet you down there." Orca transmits: "Roger that, DepthCharge. I'll keep searching over here." As Orca continues his search, a sudden blast of bubbles erupts from near his right side. The floor seems to split as a rift several meters in length opens, spilling magma into the water. Surrounding water temperatures jump immiedately, and Orca instinctively jumps backward. He transmits a hasty message to DepthCharge, "I think I may have some bad news..." AquaticProbe arrives upon the location and sweeps aross the object. D.C. finds a craft laying charred and melted, looking majorly beat up. D.C radios to Orca "I think we have found what we have been looking fo" But stops as he feels the temperature rise and receives Orca's radio. D.c. radios back "Err... bad news. What do you see?" Orca transmits: "I think the geological stability of this area is about to blow...literally. I'm watching magma pour forth from this rift over here. If you've found him, we better make like Blurr..." Orca turns and checks his locator. He peers forward through the water and begins to swim toward the lights on DepthCharge. AquaticProbe transmits to Orca "Roger that... Let's get the security director and get out of here." The probe lowers himself down to the level of the Jetskimmer and nudges it with his nose section, trying in vain to lift it up. D.C. transmits to Orca "Err... Orca, we have a slight problem. I am not able to transform this deep, and in this mode I can't pick the security director up. How far away are you?" Orca's body appears as he comes up from a nearby ridge. He descends and swims over next to DepthCharge, pausing to shine his light down on the skimmer. Checking quickly over his shoulder toward the bubbles seeping forth from the magma, he looks back to DepthCharge and transmits, "I can get him...although the extra weight may make it a little harder to get out of here." He turns and leans over to pick up the Jetskimmer in his arms. AquaticProbe circles around Orca and says, getting ready to hook Orca with one of his turbines "Don't worry about getting out of here, I'll provide some extra boost for the both of you." Orca wraps his right arm around the Jetskimmer. Looking quickly to DepthCharge, he transmits, "Alright, let's get to the surface as soon as we can!" He squats and leaps from the floor as his turbines begin to whine. Several more rifts open in the ocean floor. More magma spews forth, sending another flurry of turbulence and bubbles through the area. AquaticProbe moves to Orca's right side and hooks his right turbine beneath Orca's left shoulder and kicks his turbines into full power. AquaticProbe is rocked with the turbulence in the area, and tries to continue a constant power output to his turbines as he lends Orca some extra boost. D.C. watches the ground beneath them shake and transmits to Orca "I really don't like the looks of this, lets get to the surface as soon as possible." Orca makes sure the cable attaches tightly, then signals a 'thumbs up' toward DepthCharge. He switches his grip on the skimmer in his arms, making she he has a tight hold and that it will not slip from his grasp during the ascent. AquaticProbe flashes his search lights in agreement and begins roaring forward through the rapidly heating ocean water, bubbles and dirt flying everywhere due to the increased temperature. Orca follows behind DepthCharge, attached to the tow cable. AquaticProbe radios to Orca "You alright back there? You able to tow the Sec" The rest is cut off as the probe is knocked aside by another blast of hot water. D.C. trembles slightly and gets back on course, hoping to get out of here soon. Orca transmits: "Yeah, I'm fine." AquaticProbe roars into full power and goes shooting straight up, breaking the surface of the water AquaticProbe heads up through the waters towards the surface of the Central Pacific . You begin the ascent through the waters towards the Central Pacific ... Central Pacific Caern (cae) pages Orca and DepthCharge: Just a sec. Need to relog. Orca ascends through the waters with the skimmer in his arms. He kicks his turbines as hard as they will go as he careers toward the surface. There is a tremendous *splash* as he breaks through the surface of the water. The speed of his ascent was so great that he is almost propelled out of the water entirely. Orca spins around and holds out Caern with both arms, gently riding each of the gentle yet large waves rolling along the ocean. He chuckles aloud and smiles toward DepthCharge, "That was fun, wasn't it?" AquaticProbe criss crosses through the waters, cutting back only a little on the speed before moving next to Orca. The Probe says through two external speakers "Fun? I don't know about that... More like frightening and dangerous." AquaticProbe says through two external speakers "Now all we have to do is get the security director back to Autobot City, and pray that he is alright." Orca blurts, "Ah, that's life on the edge! Ya gotta enjoy it! We made it out okay." AquaticProbe would shake his head if he was in robot mode, and says "Give me the quiet days in a lab anytime." Orca shrugs, "Well, let's get back to Autobot City..." He tosses the Jetskimmer carelessly into the air as he seems to jump out of the water. Diving forward, Orca thrusts his arms over his head. They combine as his legs fold under him. His head descends into his body as his tubrines move backward into position for directing aquatic movement. Aquatic Tank opens the blue hatch covering its cockpit just in time to catch the Jetskimmer in its padded compartment. Aquatic Tank floats along the waves and starts its engines with a load roar. "Let's ride the waves!" comes the shout over its speakers. AquaticProbe kicks his turbines in and begins heading through the ocean waters, scanning the skies for any sign of Militants or Decepticons as he goes, after all, they have come this far and he doesn't want anything happening now. With a sudden burst of acceleration, the tank rockets forward, a large trail of fine mist spraying up behind it. It jumps over several waves, several times becomming entirely airborn as it speeds east. AquaticProbe continues east with the tank, realise that the ocean waters are certainly going to be different with this Autobot about. AquaticProbe heads out towards the vast expanse of the Central Pacific . You head out towards the vast expanse of the Central Pacific ... Central Pacific Aquatic Tank darts along the surface of the water, knifing through several waves and turning to jump others. AquaticProbe says through two external speakers "Lets just hope some of the medics are about.." and falls into formation with the Tank, traveling along at the same speed but not doing any off the fancy stunts. AquaticProbe continues on, heading east Aquanaut comes into view across the ocean's expanse, traveling from the Central Pacific . AquaticProbe heads out towards the vast expanse of the Central Pacific . You head out towards the vast expanse of the Central Pacific ... Central Pacific Aquanaut comes into view across the ocean's expanse, traveling from the Central Pacific . Aquatic Tank cuts sharply to the north, sending another large wall of water splashing away from him as he zooms toward the coast of California. You head out towards the vast expanse of the North Pacific ... North Pacific Aquanaut comes into view across the ocean's expanse, traveling from the Central Pacific . AquaticProbe comes into view across the ocean's expanse, traveling from the Central Pacific . AquaticProbe charges through the water, turbines roaring. Cutting this time to the east, Orca turns toward one of the beaches along the shore. He slows as he nears the sandy shore. AquaticProbe moves into formation and continues moving along with the Aquabots. D.C. says to Aquanaut through two external speakers "We managed to fine the security director thanks to your data." With sounds of shifting hydraulics, the black and white hydrotank seems to split in half, its bow moving apart and forming into arms. The large propulsion turbines at its rear fold along to the very top of the vehicle. Legs unfold from below as the black helm of Orca rises up from the middle of the vessel. Aquanaut asks, "What is his condition?" Orca transforms as he nears the beach, flipping the Jetskimmer out from his compartment and catching it in his arms as he lands on the sand. He runs up the dunes and heads into the outskirts of the city. AquaticProbe says to Aquanaut "It is still unknown.. we are rushing back to A.C." Aquanaut plows through the water and soon begins walking instead of swimming. He trudges up onto the beach with water dripping off his body Orca, not paying much attention to conversation behind him, continues toward the city to seek immediate medical attention for the unconscious Caern. You head out towards the vast expanse of the Outskirts of San Francisco... Outskirts of San Francisco Aquanaut comes into view across the ocean's expanse, traveling from the North Pacific . AquaticProbe comes into view across the ocean's expanse, traveling from the North Pacific . AquaticProbe charges through the water, turbines roaring. AquaticProbe arrives along the shallow waters of the beach in the outskirts of San Fran and stops, transforming. The slight sound of decompressing air can be heard as the AquaticProbe contracts in on itself slightly, taking on a more body like shape. In a matter of milliseconds the AquaticProbe becomes the Autobot DepthCharge. DepthCharge wades out of the water and catches up with the other Autobots. Orca rushes down the streets of the city after crawling over several sand dunes. He carries in his arms the badly damaged form of the Autobot Security Director. Rushing up to the gates of Autobot City, he shouts into the speaker at the gate, "Alert the medics! We've got Caeren...or whatever his name is." Aquanaut moves quickly toward the entrance to the city, helping Orca carry Caern's unconscious body DepthCharge brings up the rear, dashing through the streets with the other two, dripping saltly water in his wake. Orca stops as he waits for the gates to open, and finally takes notice of the other Autobot. "Hey there," he blurts out, "Let's get this guy to the medbay." Aquanaut nods, "Yes, time is of the essence." He presses through the gates as soon as they're wide enough for his large body to fit through Aquanaut passes through the gates to enter Autobot City. Entrance to Autobot City DepthCharge enters Autobot City from the outskirts of San Francisco. DepthCharge walks into the area Orca rushes into the city, then pauses as he looks down the corridor. "Which way is the repair bay, again?" Aquanaut shrugs, "I don't know. This is my first time in Autobot City..." He looks around, a bit confused. DepthCharge points to the east, saying "Through the Main Lobby." Aquanaut nods and rushes off that way Aquanaut leaves to the Main Lobby - First Floor to the east. Orca looks around with relatively cluelessness. He nods his head toward DepthCharge, quickly saying, "Thanks," as he rushes toward the lobby. You move east to the Main Lobby - First Floor... Main Lobby - First Floor DepthCharge enters from the Entrance to Autobot City to the west. DepthCharge walks into the area Orca comes rushing down the corridor carry a badly damaged Jetskimmer in his arms. DepthCharge comes dashing in with the other two Autobots, not seeming to care about the watery puddles they are leaving behind them. Neither does D.C seem to care about the few patches of Sea weed that cover his form. Aquanaut rushes in with Orca and DC, helping Orca haul Caern's unconscious body toward the med bay Rodimus Prime blinks. "What's the deal..?" Orca blurts, "Hey, it's that long-winded Rodimus Prime! We've got your security director...want him with a side order of kelp?" Aquanaut says on his way by, stating the obvious, "We found Caern..." Orca flashes his left optic in a wink, "Just kidding...we managed to recover him, but he needs immediate medical attention." Rodimus Prime trails, "Long-winded... err, yeah," he drags himself back on track, "Get him into medbay. What's his condition?" Aquanaut is practically dragging Orca along by now as well as he heads off toward the medbay Orca rushes into the medbay with Aquanaut, barely responding to Rodimus with a, "...not too great..." Aquanaut leaves to the Repair Bay to the south. You move south to the Repair Bay... Repair Bay DepthCharge enters from the Main Lobby - First Floor to the north. DepthCharge walks into the area Rodimus Prime enters from the Main Lobby - First Floor to the north. Aquanaut hauls Caern's body up onto one of the tables and shouts, "MEDIC!" Orca looks around and spots and empty table. He walks over to eat and leans over, letting the Jetskimmer from his grasp and onto the table. Dropped. Orca blurts, "We got him to the repair bay...now what?" Rodimus Prime tries to grasp on something relative to his experience. "Uhh.. pop open an access port on his armor. Let all that seawater drain out." Aquanaut moves over to one of the unresponsive medibots and grabs it, lifting it off the ground, then carries it over to Caern and sets it down in front of him Orca spins toward the nearest counter and swipes up two sharp-bladed devices. "Okay," he says, "Tell me where to start." Orca hmms and then says, "Actually...one of you should do this." Rodimus Prime says, "Whoa whoa whoa, put that down. No one's cutting up anyone." DepthCharge watches Aquanaut carry the unresponsive medibot and says to himself "I guess that's one way to do things." D.C. looks at Orca with thesharp things and shakes his head. Orca murmers, "Sorry...I just want to help without causing trouble. Please tell me what I can do!" Rodimus Prime says, "Just finding him and bringing him back was more help than anything. If you want to do something useful, find a real medic and haul him down here." Orca looks up at Rodimus, then nods his head. "Sure thing, Rodimus Prime...I'll try to track one down!" The medical droid chirps and waves its spindly arms irritably, scanning Caern's body and finally sliding several key access hatches open, spilling brackish water out onto the floor. Orca spins and runs toward the door, nearing tripping over one of the cables running along the floor. He slips through the exit and heads into the lobby in a determined search to find a medic.
