Several operating tables lie in a row here, and a long bench lines one wall. On the bench are assorted tools used in repairing damaged transformers. Scattered throughout the room are various repair bots, awaiting the arrival of more wounded to repair. The room gives you the perception of being immaculately clean, with not a single tool out of place. Contents: Mariner Gumby Medic Med-Comm Recharging Station Obvious exits: Orca comes through the doors from the lobby carrying a datapad. Actually, waving it excitedly around the air is more like it. "Hey there Mariner!" he exclaims jubilantly. "Still working late in lab tonight, huh?" Mariner looks around from his biological work... "Ahoy! Aye lad... working on a cure for the terrans' little plague" Maverick climbs up from the training room, brushing dust from his hands. He grins and waves to the pair, "Hey guys.." Maverick pauses at mention of the plague, "How's it going so far, Mariner? I've got something, but it still has nasty side-effects in the simulations.." Mariner nods and smiles... "It is slowly progressing... perhaps if we combined our findings?" Orca waves toward the third Autobot. "Hey there, Maverick!" he exclaims. The black and white Autobot takes a fleeting glance toward the counters of experiments. Momentarily lets his attention turn away from his datapad. "What exactly is all this, anyhow?" Maverick nods, "That'd be great.. I've got it down to a few formulae, but I don't really want to risk any other tests..." Mariner says, "I have found that many oceanic biological samples have some level of resistance to the plague... I am attempting to isolate the resistant factor to come up with a cure and vaccine"" Maverick nods, "We'll have to pool our data.." He glances over toward Orca, "We've both been working on finding a cure for this plague.." Mariner nods too Orca lets out an amused laugh. "Great joke there, Mav!" he says. He nudges his elbow in the other Autobot's direction. "Get it? POOL your data? HA!" Mariner grins and nods... "Aye Lad, it was good" Maverick blinks his optics a few times before grinning, "Er.. Wasn't exactly meant to be a pun, but..." Orca lets his snickering subside. He looks blankly toward the table, as if trying to remember why he's in the repair bay. Jolting slightly with the shock of mental recall, the Aquabot whisks the datapad from his side. "OH! I wanted to check and see if either of you could help me with something..." Mariner points to the equipment and readouts... "Have a look, Lad?" to MAverick Mariner looks to Orca... "What's on your mind?" Maverick nods, "Sure thing, Orca. What's up?" With his fingers shaking due to his excitement, Orca activates the datapad. "I've been gathering some research on major ocean-related stories from human civilizations... in part ignited by the mystery which surrounds the area known as the Bermuda Triangle (where those shipts have been disappearing)." Maverick nods slowly, "Yeah, I've read a lot of the legends. Strange how they're happening again.." Mariner smiles... "So that's what you've been reading, Lad... did you get to the Mermaids yet?" Orca continues, "I have discovered quite an amazing myriad of stories and legends, especially from the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. The tales of merfolk living in the oceans of the planet seem to carry similar theme as well." Maverick winks an optic, "Have you watched The Little Mermaid though?" Orca looks toward Maverick. He nods and says, "Yes, I did. It illustrated what I'm talking about just as well as these compiled images of statues and fascades from ancient Greece." Mariner says, "What about Atlantis aka Poseidon?" Orca holds the datapad forward. A series of images flicker slowly on the pad's viewscreen. There's a fascade of the Temple of Poseidon, an image depicting the gods of Olympus... then the scens move to ancient Rome, where the figures are very similar. "These ancient civilizations had an ocean deity... Neptune to Romans, Poseidon to the Greeks." Mariner nods... "Yeas... God of the Sea... a might force... in Greece he was brother of Zeus, king of the Gods" Maverick nods, "Yeah, elemental gods were pretty common." The still images stop as moving video is displayed. There is a short take of King Triton from the Disney Corporation's film from the late 20th century. "In this children's film, the King of a community is displayed wielding one weapon... a trident. Of course, the movie neglects the fact that Triton was really the son of Poseidon, but I'm straying from the point." Mariner nods and watches the review of things he quickly picked up when he first got to Earth Maverick hms softly, "I take it your interest was piqued by the trident appearing in all the myths?" Orca blurts, "Actually, it was the fact that I didn't have an adequate way to defend myself when wrapped up in the tentacles of that damn Decepti-squid Deepsea..." Maverick ahhhs, smirking slightly, "I see. So there was a point to that roundabout topic." He grins, "I think I know what you're getting at." Orca looks back toward Macerick. "But to answer you question," he says, "yes, the trident is the focus of what I was looking at. I've been thinking about creating one for my own use. Something fully material would be a hassle in the ocean though... I need something more closely tied to myself." Mariner nods... "Energy weapon... can your circuits handle it?" Orca seems shocked at Maverick's comment. "Roundabout topic?" he exclaims. "I was merely explaining what kind of thinking I've been going through. This planet has a rich history... I simply enjoy using it to help understand some of its culture better." Shifting his optics toward Mariner, the Aquabot shrugs his shoulders. "How should I know?" Orca murmers cluelessly. Maverick nods quickly, "Oh I love human cultures.. Not to worry." He grins, "And I think Mariner and I can rig something up for you." Orca's blue optics flash brightly with anticipation at Maverick's response. "Could you?" he pleads. "That would be awesome!! I would help you two in any way I can with these ocean experiments... I really would." Mariner grins Mariner says, "Let's see what we've gotta do..." Mariner pulls out a medical scanner and runs a check on Orca. Maverick pulls out a medical scanner and runs a check on Orca. Orca glances toward Mariner. "Think I have the juice to have it done?" he asks. Maverick glances at his scanner and pulls out a datapad, "Let's see.. We can just use a frequency of omega as five pi...." he trails off into a soft, muttered string of technobabble. Mariner says, "The juice... but you need some internal modifications for safety... sortof energy flux protection" Mariner gets to the laymens terms... bedside manner and quick calculations... a true vetran Orca's optics' hues dull. He looks blankly toward the other two Autobots and murmers a befuddled, "What's that mean in standard talk?" Maverick grins brightly, "It means we can do it without too much trouble." Mariner nods... "Install a weapon emittor, safeguard your internals with a new component and re-routing of power... easy as Pi" Orca opens his mouth slowly. "ooooooooh!" he breaths with a sigh of relief. "That's great news, then! Want me to let you two look over this datapad or anything?" Maverick tosses a sidelong glance at Mariner, "That was an awful pun.." He grins, shaking his head, "No thanks, I think we've got it down." He glances back at Mariner, "Want to get his syste,s ready while I put together the actual trident?" Orca asks Maverick, "You would need to construct it? How does that work since it would be an energy weapon?" Maverick holds up a hand, pointing to his palm, "Well, the energy projector, to be precise. That'll go into an arm. But I need to modulate it so it forms the right shape before it can be installed." Orca looks down toward his right hand. Folding it behind his back, he asks, "What if this arm is tied behind me or something?" Mariner goes to get some tools and opens a drawer to remove a component Mariner says, "put another emmitor in the other... use of either one" Maverick nods to Mariner, "Yeah, we can add another energy-projector." Mariner says, "It will still be just one weapon, however" Mariner takes the stuff to a table Orca nods. "Right... the emitters would be connected to the same power system or something like that, then?" he asks. "I'm just trying to make sure I have at least a general idea of what it is you're doing, ya know?" Orca winks an optic with a slight grin. Maverick pulls a few components from a drawer and quickly begins fitting them together, "Sure thing, Orca." Mariner motions for Orca to lie down on the table Orca nods toward Mariner. Setting the datapad down on the table, he sits on the tabletop and lays back. He extends his arms along his sides and rests them leisurely. Mariner turns off the pain receptors and pops open Orca's chest and arm armor Maverick hooks up the component to a power supply and begins fiddling with the settings. A soft glow indicates the projection of the energy-trident, looking like a stick now, "Can you see this from down there?" Mariner gets into a central circuitry junction and begins installing the component Orca slowly rolls his head to the right, trying to look past the open panels. His optics whirr as they try to focus. "Can't really see it from this angle, sorry," he replies to Maverick. Maverick fiddles a bit more with the dials, splitting the end so it looks like a lowercase lambda, "You'll get a look as soon as Mariner's done there then.." Mariner is already rerouting circuitry and power paths through Orca's arms to his hands Orca lets out a chuckle. "That tingles..." he snickers. The Aquabots fingers twitch slightly. Mariner finishes the power/circuitry/difficult and not interesting stuff and says, "Almost done, Lad" Maverick adjusts a few more dials, "Same here.." The end splits from two branches into three, and small barbs of energy form. Mariner looks and grins... "Not bad at all" Orca just lies on the table, looking toward the ceiling. "I appreciate you two helping me with this," he says. "Maybe the next time that mechanized squid tries to come charging at me I can make him lose a few limbs..." Maverick receives a radio transmission. Mariner grins... Maverick receives a radio transmission. Maverick pauses at his radio, "Erm.. I'll be back." He deactivates the energy image and sets down the projectors, "This part's all done though." Mariner says, "I'll put it in" Maverick transmits a message via radio. Orca calmly says, "Do what you need to do, Mav... what's up, anyhow?" Maverick grimaces, "Not sure. Something about an unruly alien." He steps toward the lobby, "Hopefully this isn't anything big.." Orca smirks. "I would lend a hand... but mine are sort of taken apart right now," he jokes. Maverick receives a radio transmission. Maverick chuckles slightly as he wanders out, "No problem." Maverick leaves to the Main Lobby - First Floor to the north. Mariner moves the emittor device into Orca's view and shows him the weapon... "How's that?" Orca's optics flash brightly with admiration. "I like it!" he exclaims. "That looks pretty nice! It's going to take some time to learn to wield it correctly, though." Mariner nods... "That's what the drones are for... and Decepticons" Orca grins. "My sentiments exactly!" he says. "The energy aspect of the system means I don't have to worry about someone stealing it, either." Mariner says, "Yes... but also if your energy systems fail... the weapon would not be on hand" Orca frowns slightly. "True," he says, "I may have to think on that in the future... maybe add some bladed edges to my arms." Mariner shrugs and works on putting the emittors in Orca closes his optics as a smile forms on his face. He opens them after several moments and asks, "So tell me about this plague that you mentioned earlier..." Mariner says, "Ah the terrans caught something that is airborn... apparently the Constructicons let it loose on San Francisco" With a look of concern of his face, Orca follows up with another question, "What are the symptoms? Is it fatal?" Mariner says, "Not fatal yet... and the symptoms are those of severe allergies" Mariner installs the right hand emittor and procedes to test it... the weapon activates and appears in Orca's hand Orca slowly pulls his fingers to grasp the shimmering trident. "Hehe... that feels kinda different in my hand," he remarks. "It certainly has a different feel to it than a fully corporeal material object." Mariner nods Orca rotates his wrist slowly, moving the trident cautiously through the air. "Although the energy form is much lighter than any solid object would be," he adds. Mariner nods and says, "Try turning it off, on and then off again" The trident flickers for a few moments, a few seconds actually. Finally, it disappears in a brief flash of light. "There we go," Orca says. "Had some trouble figuring out which circuit to disable. Let me try to turn it back on." With a quick *ZAP!* and another flash, the trident reappears in Orca's right hand. Mariner grins Mariner installs the emittor in the left hand and closes Orca up Orca makes a fist with his left hand and rolls it slowly. He opens and closes his grip, extendinding his fingers fully. "Need me to make a test with this hand, too?" the Aquabot asks. Mariner nods With a smaller delay than when he tested with his right hand, Orca activates the energy trident. The golden glow of the pole weapon casts a soft yellow glow over the immediate surrounding area. Orca looks at his weapon with a smile. Mariner nods and reactivtes Orcas receptors... not much differnence from before... just stiff from work. He closes up Orcas armor and says, "That's all she wrote" Orca puts his hands on the edges of the table as he slowly pulls himself to a sitting position. Moving his arms in front of himself, he nods, apparently quite impressed with Mariner's and MAverick's work. "Quite an impressive job!" he says. Mariner nods... his genius is great... "Aye Lad, you're welcome" Orca hops off the table, his thick legs landing on the ground at the same time with an echoing THUD. Twisting his torso, he shifts his shoulders forward. Throwing his right hand forward, Orca activates the trident again. The shimmering shaft of light extends equally from his closed fist, then the top of the pole splits into the three-pronged blades of the aquatic weapon. Orca twirls it around once, then looks toward Mariner. The edges of his mouth curl into a childish grin such as that found on a kid opening his newest Christmas toy. Mariner nods and starts cleaning up Orca returns to a full stance. The shaft flashes brightly, then recedes into the Aquabot's palm. "I really appreciate it, Mariner," he says. "Anything you need me to do to help you out?" Mariner says, "Not at the moment, but thanks" Orca stretches his arms as picks up hsi datapad from the counter. "Thank you ever so much, then!" he exclaims. "I'm going to go practice using this baby a bit. Just drop me a call when you need me to help you with anything!" Mariner nods and smiles Orca turns and looks toward the entrance to the training chamber. Taking a deep breath, Orca bids farewell to Mariner and steps through the doors to go practice using his trident.
