Klingons and slavery
Members of the federation often claim that they are “morally superior” to the Klingon Empire because they do not employ slaves for forced labor.
How can this be, when we know that there is no such thing as slavery in the empire?
The concept of “slavery” as the feds define it requires that one submit to the will of another. As no Klingon would engage in submissive acts, the concept of slavery cannot exist in our culture.
The federation attempts to take the moral high ground based on a claim of inclusiveness of all their “member races” in the workings of their federation.
Yet, as I look around the Empire, I do not fail to see our subject races being actively encouraged to contribute their all to the greater glory which is the Klingon Empire.
The feds then change their tactic to claiming that the subject races are not allowed the luxury of self governance.
Are the subject races not allowed self governance? Indeed! They are. It has sometimes been necessary to provide external support to their leaders during the transition times when they are newly brought under our protection but this is only temporary. Once a subject race has come to understand their place in the empire, they are allowed nearly complete control of their own internal regulation.
Indeed, the feds next claim that the subject races are not allowed autonomy but at what price? When our first ships encountered the Valdrani we discovered that they had exterminated their nearest neighbor and were preparing to launch a slaughter upon the innocents of yet another star system. Before they could lay waste to the Anudo, we placed a police force of destroyers in orbit around their home world. The combat which ensued was glorious! Yet, in only a few years the Valdrani protectorate had been established, along with the security of the races of that sector.
To this day, who can deny that the Valdrani home world has some of the best hunting grounds in the sector? Certainly not the Anudo.
As to the Anudo, they have become rich suppliers of farmed protein for our replicators. Would they have done so had we not provided the defense of their planet that they were incapable of mounting themselves? It is to laugh.
But I digress...
Are the subject races “kept” peoples? Of course not! All under the Empire contribute to the greater glory of our cause. Do the subject races not receive fair compensation for their labors? Hardly, in fact to be a part of the Klingon Empire brings benefit of inestimable value to all who work under our banner: · As with the Anudo, we provided defense from those who would lay waste to them. · The subject races benefit from participation in an economy that spans the length and breadth of the Empire.
Slavery? I fail to see the merit of such accusations. When the feds charge that they are superior, they must lower themselves, as they had the concept, indeed the practise on many of thier worlds, as a pre requisite to leveling the charge against us.
