What is the way of the true warrior?
First: the Klingon empire is motivated by manifest destiny.
As such, it must be understood that it is the obligation of the empire ( and all klingons in general) to work toward the expansion of the empire.
Second: it must be understood that no resource in the empire may be left unused.
To fail to move into new territory means that resources are not being exploited.
It follows therefore that klingons are driven to expand into territory at a rate which is determined by the ability to bring the inhabitants and resources of that territory under Klingon rule.
It would be easy to wait for the empire to develop the resources necessary to move into a new star system with overwhelming might but to do so would assume that the empire has chosen to exploit resources slower that the rate at which they are developed.
No warrior could follow this course, as to do so would assume that Klingons, as a group, would choose a path which would be both slower and easier than another path: The path of ever increasing glory.
Furthermore, to follow such a course, would imply that klingons might follow the course of cowardice.
This does not mean that Klingons are required to move into new territories at a rate faster that they may be able to conquer the territories in question.
It is implicit in the warrior ethic that no Klingon should follow a course of foolhardiness.
Klingons do not attempt to conquer territories for which the resources necessary for said conquest simply do not exist.
It follows, therefore, that Klingons must always seek a balance between the ability to develop new resources and the need to expand the frontiers of the empire.
When, in combat, a warrior finds that sacrificing his life will serve the perpetual goal of expanding the frontiers of the empire, that warrior will gladly die to see the empire expanded and strengthened.
As the inappropriate use of resources is anathema to all Klingons, to die in battle for a cause which would not expand the borders of the empire would be seen as an unnecessary waste of resources.
The heart of Klingon experience is to follow that path which will allow for the maximum expansion of the Empire. To do less would be to embrace cowardice, to attempt more would be to embrace foolhardiness. A Klingon does neither.
The way that a warrior lives his life is to find the balance between the two extremes and to always follow the course dictated thereby.
All warriors shall follow the true path of glory -- the path which will serve the Empire best also serves the true warrior best.
