	list-servers	electronic mailing lists for direct delivery to each subscriber
	ftp	file transfer protocol - for moving files
	telnet	for remote control of  other computers
	irc	internet relay chat - for real time discussion with other web users

                    

The World Wide Web is what has popularised the internet because it provides a *graphical* interface (icons or pictures) whereas all the other formats are text based.
