This game didn't get shown on Free to air TV in Melbourne, so there is not much that I can tell you about the actual game. I listened to parts of the second and third quarters on the radio, but that was about it in the way of live coverage.
This game was Fremantle's 200th game of AFL football, and Clive's 100th. From what I could gather, Clive didn't get much of a run in the first half, and didn't score a goal, so probably not his greatest game ever. At least he has made to 100 games at last. At the other end of the scale, Fremantle had two players who made their AFL debuts: Riley Dunn and Daniel Gilmore. Meanwhile Carlton had eight players making their debut for the club. That statement under-estimates the experience of the Carlton side though, since majority of those debutants were recycled players picked up during the trading period last season.
The highlights reel from the game shows that Jeff Farmer had a good game. He kicked 3.2 personally, and helped to set up a couple of other goals. He also had a bizarre incident where he was running at the goals, and attempted to sell the dummy to an approaching Carlton defender. Instead what managed to do was to drop the ball, and it rolled away out of bounds. Not the Golden Child's greatest moment that.
Final Score : Fremantle 15.17-107 beat Carlton 8.12-60
