The Fremantle Dockers had their first season in the AFL in 1995. Since that time, the astounding skills of their players have made them a force to be reckoned with, as their record of finishing 13th, 13th, 12th, 15th, 15th and 12th clearly shows. 1999 saw a new coach on the scene, with Damien Drum taking over from Gerard Neesham, but as the astounding consistency of the Dockers shows, this change had little impact on the club. Over the summer we have perhaps seen a little more of Drum's impact, with a number of senior players being moved on and out of the club, including Peter Mann, Chris Bond, Andrew Wills, Tony Delaney and Spider Burton. Spider is about the only one on that list that I would consider it a mistake to have let go, though no doubt the others will all have great seasons thsi year as well.
Anyway, the list below is a summary of the fixtures and results for the Fremantle Dockers for the year 2000. In the end Fremantle finished 12th, which was better than many people expected, but not as good as it could have been. The good news is that they finished higher than the West Coast Eagles for the first time in the history of the club. More in-depth reviews of some of the games are also available. I also have review for some matches from 1997, 1998 and 1999.
If you want to find out more about the Dockers, click here. In 1999 they introduced a Virtual Supporters Club which you have to pay for. I'm not too sure how much of the good stuff is hidden away now, but I do have to say that I object to be slugged extra like that. Thats modern AFL footy for you I guess.
