Well, once again I was not able to see this game. It was played at Subiaco, and Channel 7 inexplicably decided that the Port Adelaide-Essendon game would make a better spectacle. Since they also decided that there was no need to show a highlights package, my comments must once again be based upon the MMM radio coverage, and what I read in the papers.
In what must almost be an unprecedented run of form, Fremantle have now made it two wins in a row. And three wins from four if you count the pre-season games. Can it continue? I doubt it. And in a complete turn around from last week, the Dockers were able to win because they were more accurate than their opponents. Although perhaps playing at home helped with that one.
The Dockers led from the start, and by all reports their halftime lead of 23 points should have been even larger. But in the third quarter, Peter Mann was able to lead by example, and the whole team responded by going missing. Hawthorn added 4.7 to the Dockers 3 points, and tooks a five-point lead into the final quarter. But to their credit Freo rallied, and came away with the four premiership points that lifted them to fourth place on the league ladder.
Final Score : Fremantle Dockers 13.9-87 defeated Hawthorn 10.13-73
