Henry V succeeded his father, Henry IV in 1413, and was officially recognised as King of France in 1420. Like Richard the Lionheart, Henry V holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the English, primarily because his excellent war record away from home.
Henry died in 1422, and his infant son was crowned king of both France and England, becoming Henry VI of England. The gains made under Henry V were soon lost during the reign of the infant king, and Henry V's ambition of uniting the crowns of England and France soon vanished.
