If you believe in conspiracy theories, then there is an argument that says that Shane Parker actually won this game for Freo. After the game against Collingwood, Mick Malthouse had a whinge about how Shane was hanging on to Tarrant. This led to Mick being fined, which led to the St Kilda coach, Grant Thomas, making comments in the media about how coaches should be allowed to complain about the umpires. The conspiracy theory part is that the umpires then worked on teaching young Grant a lesson, and so handed Freo the game. To be fair, Freo did get the better of the umpiring during this game, but I'm not at all convinced that that had anything to do with the coach's comments. Based on what I heard on the TV coverage, the umpires were prone to making decisions that went against players who complained to them, and therefore Medhurst and Farmer got some pretty harsh treatment, aloing with the St Kilda defenders.

Final Score : Fremantle 12.8-80 beat St Kilda 11.9-75
