New month, new start.. another cry asking "Hey, where did the month go?"
Anyway, on to more important stuff...
I was rummaging through old shelves the other day and realized that my family collects everything under the sun. We were bitten by the "Junk Collectors" bug about a decade ago when we decided to buy a souvenier. Before we knew it, the whole idea blew up in our faces. For the majority of the last few years, I have had the worse case of the junk-collector frenzy.
Someone collected mugs and baseball caps, another collected magnets and yet another collected souvenier spoons... Me? .. I collected everything else.
My mother once complained that in my room was in actuality was a junkyard. She has threatened more than once to take a huge Hefty bag and trash everything she can't identify. Heaven forbid! But I have tried..
Yet, I couldn't part with my collection of assorted pencils, half of which have stories of themselves: there's one that my former music teacher gave me after the choir performance at the home--yes, I used to be able to carry a tune once (keywords: "used to")--and another one that I got from the SF Museum.. I forgot the name, but I remember I had just met a juggler who had caught me trying to juggle my gloves (whoohoo, I wonder if I can still remember how to do that..). Moving on!
Throw away my matchboxes? Never! They're a token of every restuarant or hotel I've been to. There is one or two that I have that were passed on by friends, one of which is from the actual Cheers.
At one point, I collected stickers..and stamps. I have a collection of rocks which dates back to the time I bought or borrowed ever geology book I could get my hands on. I collected shells from that one memorable beach visit. I have pins!! Oh yes, that's right. That's a definite must; my official collecting item. Throw any of them away? I just can't.
What about those erasers? Eh. But they're cute! My stationery sets? They were gifts!
And I couldn't possibly consider giving away my coin collection. Even my mother admitted that would be a little drastic. (Money, money, money! ;) )
My magazine pictures? But.. they're inspirational. (From craft magazines, you see.. Comes in handy when trying to find an idea)
Well, I got no where, as you can see. I think I can remember my mother's sigh. Not that I kept everything. I did throw something away... I think. Maybe.. Hmmmm....
