On the afternoon of Friday, May 15, 1998, a group of 11 ninth-graders and 2 teachers from St. Joseph High School proudly came back
to St. Joseph High School sporting second and third place trophies and
medallions after having been victorious at the Dept. of Energy Solar
Car Racing competition held at the Educational Complex.
The four teams from St. Joseph High School raced their model solar cars in the grueling all-day competition. The members of the teams
were: Ramon Almestila, Vincent Duvall, Delvin Ebbesen, Ian Greene, Nikita Harris, Hilary Henry, James Hill, Jr., Troy Ortiz, Luis Osorio,
Alexander Parrilla, and Selwyn Willocks. The team was coached by
Mr. Louis Soto and Mr. Bruce Dariah. Bro. James Petrait, O.S.F.S.
took care of recruitment and publicity.
Alexander Parrilla spoke the feelings of the teams when he
remarked, "It was a fantastic experience to be competing against
so many teams from the U.S. Virgin Islands."
